60th birthday party

Comments

Sorry I’ve been a little laggin’ on the bloggin’! I’ve been on the East Coast visiting with family and planning a 60th birthday party for my father-in-law! We had delicious food catered and plenty of wine and vintage sodas to go around! I made some personal details, printed old photos of the birthday man and embossed napkins. My mother-in-law and I baked all the desserts from scratch, which made it extra special!
I bought vases from the dollar store, printed out black and white photos of Dennis and taped them on the outside of the vase. I also added black photo corners to each picture to give it a vintage look. Then I put a white, non-scented candle inside each vase and lit them in a row on the mantle.I love sparkler candles! You can buy these at Tops Malibu and they are guaranteed to bring an awe factor to the event.
I got the birthday hat idea from Martha Stewart and everyone at the party loved wearing them around! I’ll do a DIY on this later. For a splash of color and to add some extra flavor, cut up fresh fruit to put in the water you’re serving. I also whipped up some homemade lemon bars and cut a few of them into 60’s! You can get the recipe from here! Giant balloons are a great way to cover an empty space or blank wall in a room. I bought them at Party City and had them hanging above the couch.

The simple touches really added to the theme of the event. Sparkler candles and the fresh fruit in the water pitcher are great ideas! I love learning new ways to make the event catered to the person the event is for. The giant balloons were a simple idea but added to the theme and they really stuck out. Great job! I am always looking for inexpensive ways to add detail to events.
