key lime mother’s day week

It’s going to be a Key lime Mother’s Day all week on Sugar and Charm! I’ll be posting easy Key lime-themed entertaining and craft ideas that you can create for your mom. Let’s start the week off with a delicious Key lime pie recipe that’s perfect for brunch! Everything is homemade for mom, even the whipped cream, which is so good!! Read below for the recipes ; )

Key Lime Pie

Graham Cracker Crust
2 cups graham cracker crumbs
8 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
3 tablespoons sugar

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Mix all of the ingredients together and press into a pie pan evenly. Cook the crust for 12 minutes or until brown. Let the crust cool all the way before adding the filling.

Key lime Filling
5 egg yolks lightly beaten
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1/2 cup fresh squeezed key lime juice
1/4 teaspoon vanilla

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Thoroughly mix all of the ingredients together and poor into the cooled prepared crust. Bake for 15 minutes and allow to cool completely. Make sure the pie is cooked all the way through otherwise it will be very messy to cut… I learned from experience : )

Homemade Whipped Cream
Half pint heavy whipping cream
2 tablespoons powdered sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Whip together on high until it becomes thick. Scoop a dollop of whipped cream onto the pie. Zest some Key lime on top of the whip cream for an added touch of flavor : ) Enjoy!

You know my mother so well 😉 Key lime is her favorite…she spent her childhood in Key West, Florida. I think I am quickly going to hit favorite child status after I make something key lime inspired! Thanks for this!
