I love the 4th of July. Interestingly enough, my fondest memories are of Midwest 4th of Julys. I grew up going to Ohio to visit family almost every summer and we spent many 4th’s there. Lightning bugs, hot summer nights, bon fires, yard games, lakes, acres of bright green grass and, in my family, the most crazy golf cart rides through trails that leave you with bruises! The Midwest truly knows how to celebrate an all-American 4th of July. I know we have all of those enjoyable things (minus the lightning bugs) in California, but it’s the overall aura of the people in the Midwest that make it delightful. That brings me to my next topic… Cornhole. Have you played this game? It’s the best yard game of ALL time and anytime we go back to Ohio we like to throw down some good ‘ole Cornhole tournaments. I’m starting to realize the rest of the country is catching on to this addicting game. I’ve been seeing them pop up in yards around here and couldn’t be more excited. The 4th is not complete without a game of Cornhole. I will really miss it this year! Do you have any fun 4th of July traditions? Share them because I’m always looking to try new games or fun activities!
