Snippets of our Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving3 Thanksgiving6Thanksgiving2Thanksgiving4Thanksgiving10Thanksgiving5Thanksgiving7Thanksgiving9Thanksgiving8Thanksgiving1Thanksgiving9Happy December! We had a lovely time hosting Thanksgiving at our house this year! It was a little chaotic of course, but a great experience and I’d do it again in a heartbeat! I decorated the table using my hand-dyed table runner and color scheme I chose a few weeks ago. I had mentioned I’d be waiting in line at the flower mart the day before Thanksgiving, let’s be real… I wound up buying flowers from Ralphs Supermarket the night before, ha! There was no way I was making it to the mart with all the things to tackle! So I did my best with the flower selection they had and added some pomegranates, which helped. For place cards, Romeo and I took a nature walk and picked out the best leaves we could find and I used sticker letters for the names. They turned out great and were extremely easy to make. My sister whipped up our family’s traditional sweet potato and marshmallow casserole (recipe coming soon!) and the stuffin’. The pre-feast punch turned out fantastic too, so I’ll be sharing that recipe as well. It was one of my favorites! We even had 3 neighbors stop by and enjoy some punch before dinner. During the meal, I had my family write down what they were thankful for and seal it in a card. I then shuffled and passed them out randomly. You had to read out loud whatever was on the card and then we all tried to guess who wrote it. Some were on the serious side and some were just plain funny. Mine was probably the craziest and my sister had to read it out loud, which had us laughing tears!! I love that our dinners consist of jokes and being a little crazy, life’s short and it’s just more fun that way. It was truly a memorable Thanksgiving and I’m so thankful for my family! It’s a little quiet around here since everyone left this weekend and I always hate that but I’m getting ready for the Christmas rush! I did go to the mall on Black Friday and got some amazing deals! Why can’t it be Black Friday every day?! What kind of traditions and dishes did you all do for Thanksgiving?

What a beautiful spread you all had there! And are those strips of bacon on the top of your turkey? Looks delicious. This year we spent Thanksgiving with friends and I had several games planned but we never got around to playing them…maybe we shouldn’t stay in our pajamas next year! LOL
Thanks for sharing your traditions, I’m always in search of new ones.

Hi Tammie! Yes they are strips of bacon, haha! So good! And I hear you about the pajama part… If I didn’t force myself to get dressed before dinner I would have been in mine too! The day is just so busy!! Thanks for the sweet comment 🙂
