I’m excited about this because Romeo is at the age where we’re starting to explore our city more with him. These outings are usually fun sans the occasional tantrum, which I confront with “the look.” Okay, back to the new series, I’m delighted to share places in and around LA that are not only amusing and enjoyable for me and Zan, but also kid-friendly, educational (at times) and exciting for Romeo. We live in a thriving city full of adventures, beautiful outdoors and good food so we’re taking full advantage of it while we still have one child ; )

This week we visited Malibu Cafe. It’s an  outdoor restaurant tucked away in the canyons of Malibu. Zan and I were fans before Romeo blessed us with his presence so now we’re introducing it to him. It truly is a wonderful place for children to explore outdoors, ride in a paddle boat on the adorable pond, play outdoor games and indulge in a yummy lunch. There are dining tables on the large lawn and plenty of room for children to play on the side. I’m a fan of the pool tables placed under the trees for older kids and adults to enjoy. We love spending a few hours enjoying the rustic scenery, sipping fresh cocktails, eating and watching our little boy run around like a wild nature boy. If you’re in LA or ever come to visit, M Cafe is a hidden gem for people with or without kids.

I know this series is going to be awesome.I can’t wait to explore all these interesting/fun places with you and your family through your written blog entries and photos.I recall a photo of my sister and her husband playing pool outdoors under a tree while visiting California.Must be the same place you have mentioned.

It is the same place! It’s great for Zan and I because we can drink our Moscow Mules while Romeo runs around, ha!! XO

I wish we had a place like this near us! Right now it’s too cold to even go outside, but I can dream through these photos. Love the idea of this new series!

It looks like no one is there…..is it usually likes this or does it tend to get pretty busy depending on the day?

It does tend to get a little busy on the weekends, but it’s never packed and there’s usually not a wait. There were quite a few people there, we just try to photograph around them. Luckily, it’s still a hidden gem 🙂

One of my last trips to LA included a visit to my friend’s work–Calamigos Ranch– where she was planning weddings. We grabbed drinks and a snack at Malibu Cafe after she finished her day, and I loved it! I remember there being a bunch of smiling, happy kids around as well.

I’m about to move to LA from Boston — glad I found your blog. Stunning photos!
