For those of you hosting an Oscars party this Sunday, you’ll love these simple entertaining ideas we put together, including our very own 2014 Oscar Ballot printable pdf! Every year we play a guessing game before the Oscars start and fill in the ballots. Whoever gets the most correct answers at the end receives a prize. I have to say, playing a game makes watching the Oscars waaaaaay more interesting, even if it’s just two of you! For some quick appetizers, serve some truffle popcorn in individual bags and my all time favorite — prosciutto-wrapped sweet peppers stuffed with cream cheese! They may not look the prettiest, but believe you me they taste incredible! We also whipped up some quick strawberry mousse and bow-tie sugar cookies for dessert. AND since the Oscars exude elegance, Champagne is a must on the menu. We served ours with a small amount of strawberry puree and a gold-sugared rim. Ta-da!! Read the recipe details below!
You can either pop your own popcorn in a large pot or use a microwave bag. If you use a bag, make sure it’s just buttered or plain, not salted.
When the popcorn is done popping, drizzle a small amount of truffle oil on it. Then add a good amount of truffle salt. Mix well and serve in individual paper bags.
Champagne and Strawberries with a Gold Rim
Puree 1/4 cup strawberries with 1 teaspoon sugar. Wet the rim of the Champagne glasses and dip into gold sugar or sprinkles. Add a tablespoon of strawberry puree into the bottom of each glass. Top with Champagne.
Prosciutto-wrapped Sweet Peppers with Cream Cheese
10-15 sweet small sweet peppers
One 8 oz package cream cheese
1/4 cup kalamata olives, chopped
1 package prosciutto
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Cut the peppers in half, length wise.
Whip the cream cheese for about 10 minutes until it becomes softer.
Fold in the olives.
Stuff one side of a pepper with cream cheese, place the other half on top and wrap a long piece of prosciutto around the pepper.
Place on a cookie sheet and bake them for about 15 minutes.
Strawberry Mousse with Gold Sprinkles

1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon Grand Marnier
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream
Puree strawberries, sugar and Grand Marnier in a blender.
With an electric mixer, beat heavy whipping cream on high until thick.
Add in powdered sugar and continue to beat until very thick.
Fold in strawberry puree and then refrigerate until cold and thick.
Serve in mini martini glasses with gold sugar.
