Charming Home: Cottage Living in Gordon

CharmingHome_ EveWilsonPhoto_2CharmingHome_ EveWilsonPhoto_4CharmingHome_ EveWilsonPhoto_5CharmingHome_ EveWilsonPhoto_CharmingHome_ EveWilsonPhoto_6 I’ve always been smitten with country cottages that have a bit of a modern farmhouse vibe. We spotted this cottage on The Design Files and it’s nothing short of charming! It’s nestled in green, rolling hills about an hour away from Melbourne, in a town called Gordon, which looks totally idyllic! We just started looking to buy a new property and I’m always torn between the city or the country. We love and could thrive in both settings! Right now, we live about halfway in between, which is ideal, but to buy an acre here, it’s very pricey. We looked at an absolutely gorgeous property with 2.5 acres yesterday, but it’s far and you can’t walk to anything. BUT, you have space, peace and an area for our son (and future kids) to run and play. So torn!! In the meantime, while I sit and write my pros and cons on what’s better – city or country living, I’m charmed by homes like this one. You can see all of the photos and a cute video on The Design Files!

This is like country minimalistic to me. I like it. Being torn between the city and country is hard. When I was younger I was much more of a city girl but I think the older I get the more I lean toward the country.

I agree!! I moved to LA when I was 18 in love with the idea of city living… then 12 years later we moved a little further out (still city-ish) which I love too. Now I saw this property and It’s rather enticing! AND I feel like as I get older I’ll want more of this vibe too! So hard to decide. I just hate not being able to walk to a coffee or ice cream shop! It’s give and take, I guess.

  2. This looks gorgeous! I can totally understand why you are torn! I’m a big city girl as well but I really enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside. So, I guess in the end it’s all about gut feeling. I once heard about a trick of flipping a coin and you now what you want, if you are disappointed or happy about the result. But it doesn’t really worl for me because I always feel both ways 🙂

That’s a good trick though, but I’m with you on the fact that I think I’d feel the same both ways, haha! I should try it!! If only I could just have a country ranch and a city loft?!? I mean that’s not too much to ask for right?! HAHA!!!
