unique tips for serving cake and ice cream

I came across these two savvy tips for serving cake and ice cream on the Real Simple site and they are so unique! Ice cream can be so messy to scoop and serve, especially when there are impatient little kiddos tugging at your leg ; ) So why not get it out of the way the day before? As for the cake, I have never seen one cut this way, but it totally makes sense! It’s a cleaner, nicer cut and you’ll get more pieces out of it.
It seems simple from the pictures, but here’s a little how-to just in case : )
Cutting the cake: Use a long knife to cut a small circle in the middle of the cake. Cut the outside into wedges and the inside as you would normally.
Serving the ice cream: Place cupcake paper in a cupcake pan. Using an ice cream scooper, scoop one ball into each paper lining and transfer the tray into the freezer for a few hours. After you cut the cake, remove the scoops from each cup… you can serve in the paper or drop them onto the plate!
