sprucing up store-bought flowers

Flowers are a typical, but nice hostess gift. Sometimes the store-bought flowers, that come in boring plastic wrap, need a little revamping! I bought a bouquet at Trader Joe’s for $5 and arranged them two different ways for a fresher looking and more thoughtful hostess gift.

Take the flowers out of the plastic, cut the ends at an angle and arrange them on a small square of brown paper. Wrap the paper around the flowers and tie with twine. These are two items that you should always have on hand, brown paper and twine!! You can wrap any present, flowers, etc. with these materials. Oh and sometimes the grocery store will actually wrap the flowers in brown paper for you!! How cool is that?! ; )
If you want to add an extra little gift, you can arrange the flowers in a vase or this anthro mug ($8) to give to the hostess. Just cut the flowers and begin arranging. Simple as that. The Dollar Store sells plain glass vases to stock up on… you never know when you might need one! Just wrap some twine around the glass and voila! A perfect gift already arranged for your friend : )

  1. What a great idea, and a great deal on what you made into quite a lovely presentation!

I love sprucing up store-bought bouquets as well usually by adding in flowers from the yard.
