We’re lucky to live fairly close to Santa Ynez wine country and we try to take full advantage of the gorgeous countryside and incredible restaurants. My absolute favorite restaurant is Full of Life Flatbread in Los Alamos. I actually did a post about it here in 2011, but wanted to share the photos from our quick trip there Saturday. It’s a charming, rustic, farm-to-table restaurant located in a tiny town north of Santa Barbara (right off the 101!). I can honestly say, with no hesitation, they’re serving up the most flavorful pizza I’ve ever had. Zan always orders half and half of the incredible flatbread specials (the ones on the chalkboard in the pic!) and I get my fave, the pepperoni and peppers. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting and as you walk in you’re greeted by a beautiful bar with lovely fresh, local flowers. They only use the freshest ingredients from local farmers’ markets in the area and from the garden growing on the patio! The appetizers never cease to amaze us either! They change weekly and are always perfection. We ordered a caprese cheese plate with the juiciest heirloom tomatoes, a delicious oil sauce, some beans and a crazy spicy mayonnaise dip on the side…honestly, I can’t even describe how good it was. Too bad we only had a few bites before Romeo devoured the entire plate! For dessert, being the chocolate lover I am, I stuck with our fav and went with their most popular treat, the S’mores. It’s two chocolate espresso cookies sandwiched together with a giant homemade marshmallow in the middle, toasted in the wood fire oven….no words. After dinner, you can take a walk across the street to the historic Union Hotel for a beer and a game of shuffle board in the saloon!
