Our first Christmas in our home called for a Sugar and Charm holiday party and toy drive benefitting one of my favorite Los Angeles non-profits, Baby2Baby. I’m happy to report the party and drive were a festive success! My sweet friend (pun intended) and pastry chef Sarah baked some of the most incredible cookies for the Cookies and Cocktail themed party. She made toasted coconut moonpies, gingersnap caramel sandwiches, pistachio/cranberry wreaths and peppermint thumbprints. I added to the cookie spread and made chocolate cherry thumbprints and gingerbread spice sugar cookies. We had the beloved Pharmacie join us and they kept their hand-crafted, fresh cocktails pouring throughout the evening, and of course they were a huge hit! My rule is if you’re throwing a party for 15 or more, hire bartenders so you can enjoy the night! Outside we had a cozy fire, S’mores bar, cornhole and market lights strung throughout the yard for a perfect ambiance. My beautiful friends placed the most wonderful presents underneath the tree to donate to Baby2Baby. We celebrated until 1am, which is incredibly late for this mama! I thought I might turn into a pumpkin… or a Christmas tree! But I was so happy everyone had a blast and we were able to kick back in our yard around the fire laughing, playing cornhole, drinking and eating. I woke up at 6:45am to pick up Romeo from his sleepover and found that the entire house, yard and every single detail was cleaned with everything placed right back into its original position. Zan stayed up until 4:30am cleaning while I slept. I had no idea he was even up. What a husband! I love you so much Zan… you’re truly the best. It was an evening to remember and maybe a new tradition. Most importantly we helped a special cause while creating memories with friends and family.
