7 Pantry Essentials

7PantryEssentialsEveryone has their favorite “must-have” pantry products. The ones that make your everyday food taste a little better — the secret seasonings and the quick mixes for effortless entertaining. Today I’m sharing my top 7 pantry essentials! I’ve discovered these over the years from various places and they’ve all quickly become an essential in my kitchen. Do any of you have a favorite pantry product you can’t live without?! Let me know!

Pasolivo Truffle Salt: If you haven’t tried truffle salt, it’s one of the best things on earth!! Truffle itself is incredible, but can be pricey. Because of its very potent nature, it adds a strong scent and flavor to the salt. A little goes a long way and I usually add a dash to pasta, dressings, fries… really anything savory!

Vanilla Bean Paste: If you’ve followed Sugar and Charm for awhile, you know I use vanilla bean paste in a lot of my desserts. I usually add it in place of vanilla bean extract. It’s thicker in consistency and leaves tiny traces of vanilla bean in frostings. It’s absolutely my favorite! Excellent ingredients equal excellent desserts!

Santa Maria Style Seasoning: Years ago I got the best tip from a butcher at Whole Foods. He told me about Santa Maria Style Seasoning. He said it’s the only seasoning you need to make mouthwatering steak. He was so right because this stuff is incredible! My best kept secret (not anymore) and it goes beyond steak. I use this for fish and poultry as well. We linked it to the main site, but you can also get it here for $6.99.

World Market Guacamole Mix: Ever want to make the best guacamole you’ve ever tasted? All you need is this mix and some avocados! It’s a combination of tomatillos, green chilies and garlic… yeah I know, you’ll be addicted. I also use this in our scrambled eggs and tacos. It’s really just a great overall sauce!

Trader Joe’s Coconut Oil: This product is great for baking substitutes, morning shakes, yummy thai dishes and even for a quick moisturizer or hair mask… haha! It’s versatile, tastes delicious and very affordable.

Pasolivo Signature Olive Oil: As you know, a good quality olive oil makes a huge difference in the flavor of recipes. It’s one ingredient you want to spend a little extra on to ensure a quality olive oil taste. We love our local California olive oil by Pasolivo. The signature olive oil has a very strong flavor but is a great “all-purpose” olive oil. They also have flavors like basil, lime, lemon, rosemary that are all very tasty on pastas and dressings.

McClure’s Bloody Mary Mix: If you like pickles you are going to go crazy for this bloody mary mix. It’s made from a spicy pickle brine, tomato paste, cucumber juice and other incredibly fresh ingredients. It’s sour, like a pickle and really spicy! All you do is add a little vodka and you have an instant and very delicious bloody mary! They carry this at some Ralph’s and Whole Foods stores too, so keep your eye peeled for it. It’s worth it!
