Ready for a full on ice cream explosion?! We’re In the Mix with Los Angeles’s popular ice cream shop, Sweet Rose Creamery! I was impressed not only with how incredibly tasty the ice cream was, but also with the Sweet Rose Creamery philosophy. They’re a farm-to-table ice cream shop, sourcing high quality ingredients from local farms, using organic ingredients from the Santa Monica Farmers Market to whip of batches fresh (and seasonal) flavors every day. You can literally taste the freshness, care and craft that go into each flavor. It’s more of a refreshing, real ice cream over rich and heavy types of ice cream. What really makes Sweet Rose unique is that they make all of their toppings (except the sprinkles and coco nibs) and they’re out of this world delicious!! Hands down, the best homemade marshmallows I’ve ever had and the pecan brittle topping is the crunchiest, yummiest crumble ever. And the homemade, date-sweetened almond milk used to make the latte is the BEST! At the newest location on Beverly Blvd in Hollywood, they have plenty of seating to enjoy your treats and coffee!
Below is a flavorsome list of every flavor combo we tried during our visit and the photos that accompany them. For those of you wondering, I did try them ALL and no one had to roll me out of there… it was a good day.
What we ate….
Triple Scoop: Melon chiffon ice cream, plum sorbet, white nectarine frozen yogurt on a freshly made vanilla waffle cone.
Bon Bons: Classic old fashioned vanilla ice cream dipped in chocolate and seasonal toasted coconut ice cream in chocolate.
Ice Cream Sandwiches: Classic vanilla in homemade chocolate wafer cookie and seasonal melon chiffon in vanilla cookie.
Butterscotch Crunch Sundae: Vanilla ice cream, homemade pecan brittle topping, caramel sauce and butterscotch, freshly whipped cream.
Double Scoop: Fresh mint with homemade chocolate chips on a freshly made chocolate waffle cone.
Soda Float: Mexican Coca-Cola with scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Coffee Beverage: Housemade almond latte with Chef Shiho’s almond milk and caffe luxxe testa rossa espresso, accompanied with housemade brown butter madeleine cookies and almond biscotti.
Banana Split: Vanilla and chocolate ice cream, banana, homemade crispy almonds, hot fudge, freshly whipped cream.
Single Scoop Sundae: Buttermilk sherbet with strawberry ripple (and homemade marshmallows).
