I’m the first person to admit that I have a major sweet tooth and I’m not afraid of eating my fair share of sweets either! But I’m also careful to not overindulge and I’m a firm believer that just a little dark chocolate or a cup of cocoa can satisfy my chocolate cravings. I never deny myself a craving either. If I want chocolate or sour gummies, you better believe I’ll have some. It’s a balance of everything that makes me feel the best and happiest. Life is too short to not enjoy those simple pleasures.
Lately, I’ve been borderline obsessed with the new book by Martha Stewart editors, Clean Slate. During the week we like to cook somewhat healthy meals and this book’s emphasis is on eating clean, whole, unprocessed foods as part of a primarily plant-based diet. The recipes are simple, tasty and easy to whip up after work on a busy weekday. I also love that I can buy the ingredients at my regular grocery store, because really who has time (and money!) to buy the expensive healthy foods that taste like cardboard?! There are two detox outlines you can follow as well, which will be the perfect way to jump start summer!
What I like even more than the meals section of this book are the desserts! Delicious and incredible desserts that even have healthy benefits! From coconut water pops to chocolate treats… it’s all good and wholesome! I wanted to share my two favorite treats with you all and they’re both vegan too! The first one is chocolate truffles made with dark chocolate, coconut oil, vanilla, salt and rolled in cocoa powder or nuts. I also LOVE the homemade almond milk spicy cocoa. Honestly, it’s thick and rich and the spiciness adds the perfect touch! A cup of this, paired with one truffle and I’m set!
