DIY Punch Ice Rings

These DIY punch ice rings are the perfect addition to a punch bowl! Easy to make and so beautiful, you can really get creative. They really elevate a party punch!

Anytime I make a punch for a party, it always has an ice ring! These DIY ice rings add such a charming, vibrant touch to the punch bowl, all while keeping the punch cold.

They’re also incredibly easy to make! You just need to freeze them the night before.

How to Make Ice Rings

  • To make these charming Ice Rings, all you need is a bundt pan (size it to your punch bowl), water and ingredients!
  • Fill the pan with water, then add whatever you want.
  • Don’t go light on the ingredients either, pack them down in the bundt pan and let them stick out of the water. The more ingredients you have, the better it looks when it’s frozen!
  • When the ice ring is frozen, run some warm water over the bundt pan and then it should come out very easily.

Choosing Ingredients For Your Ice Rings

You can choose the ingredients for the based on the punch recipe you’re making. There are so many options for DIY ice rings and really anything edible works. We’ve added flowers, cinnamon sticks, citrus slices, spices, herbs, etc.

The other great thing is when you’re freezing the ice ring, you can add 3/4 water and the other 1/4, whatever juice, tea or liquor you’re using in the punch. Sometimes I make a delicious spiked tea punch and I use both water and the tea to create my ice ring.

Ideas For Ice Ring Fillings

Here are some of the combinations we did for the 3 rings you see here.

1. Dried Hibiscus flower (they turned the ice ring pink!), oranges and cloves.

2. Pears, edible flowers, cinnamon sticks and black berries.

3. Apples, rosemary and star anise.

Keep your Drink Cold for Longer with These Ice Rings!

Punch is super-easy to make and eliminates the need for a full bar, which can be costly. The only problem is keeping the punch cold while it sits on the table. Even if you start with chilled ingredients, if the punch is being kept at room temperature, it will inevitably lose its chill. 

These ice rings are not only beautiful and impressive but also they’re a much better option then simply dumping a tray of ice cubes into the punch. Small, individual ice cubes will melt quicker and dilute the drink.

An ice ring will melt much more slowly, keeping the punch potent and tasty!

Use a Ladle For Your Punch

A Ladle is not only the easiest way to dispense punch from the bowl, it also has a couple other nifty uses.

The ingredients in your punch will settle after a while, use a ladle to stir the punch from time to time. It’s also good etiquette to regularly ladle punch from the bottom of the bowl and pour it over the ice ring, to keep an even coolness.

Top Tips for Punch Ice Rings

  • Make sure to use a bundt cake pan that fits the size of your punch bowl.
  • Pack your ingredients into the ring, don’t skimp!
  • Run warm water over the frozen pan, to remove the punch ice ring without breaking it.
  • Ladle the punch intermittently over the ice ring, to keep the drink evenly chilled.
