Alcoholic Ice Pops

These alcoholic ice pops are the perfect complement to a great picnic spread. Huddled together in their self-contained packages, these frozen tubes of refreshing booziness are just begging to hit the road.

Tips for Making Frozen Margarita Popsicles

  • When making the ice pops, taste the mixture before you freeze so you can adjust to your exact liking. Also remember that flavors tend to be lessened when frozen, so they won’t be as sweet when they’re frozen.
  • Fruit can tend to be sweet and sour, so you can add a little more sugar or lime or whatever!
  • Strain fresh fruit purees for smoother ice pops.
  • If traveling with the ice pops, make sure to pack them together and ideally with ice packs, to keep nice and frozen.

How Much Alcohol Is in Margarita Popsciles?

Typically, there are one to two ounces of tequila in a margarita. You can add more or less depending on how you like the taste of tequila. Since tequila doesn’t freeze, we add a little less to this margarita popsicle recipe. We want the texture of the popsicles to be slushie-like, so it’s less than a 1/2 ounce per popsicle.

In addition to tequila, you also add one ounce of orange liqueur, but this is optional depending on the kind of Margarita you are having.
