We drink them religiously in our house! I’ve been using the ground espresso in the silver tin for years and love that it’s served all over the world. When we were in Italy, most of the cafes were using illy to make the rich and creamy espresso shots we had! I was beyond excited to team up with them to create a charming holiday espresso bar and to share two of my favorite illy espresso drinks! Since we’re such huge fans, we couldn’t wait to try their brand new X9 iperEspresso machine. It’s a super slim, sleek espresso machine that’s incredibly easy to use with illy iperEspresso capsules.

We set up a holiday espresso bar that’s perfect for entertaining using the X9 iperEspresso machine and a variety of different espresso capsules to choose from.  It’s so easy for anyone to use, it’s pretty much self explanatory, which means your guests can do it themselves! We love a good DIY station during the hectic holiday months! It makes entertaining even easier for the host and it’s something fun for your family and friends. You just pop in a capsule and press just one button depending on a single or double shot. The espresso featured in the different capsules ranges from a Guatemalan blend to even an Ethiopian espresso. For our bar, we also set out milk, cream, cinnamon sticks, cocoa powder, sugar and caramel for guests to add to their espresso! An espresso bar is such a charming idea for a holiday brunch or an after dinner espresso treat and dessert bar!

We served the espresso in signature illy espresso cups as well as the Yoko Ono artisan cups.

And of course, we had to have flowers, a beautiful wreath to decorate the backdrop with. Finally, some candy canes and gingerbread men added an extra charming touch to the espresso bar! Hope this inspires you to set up an espresso bar and celebrate the holidays with charm!

Melting Snow recipe via illy coffee’s recipe community

1 shot illy espresso

2 tsp (10 ml) liquid cane sugar*

4 tbsp (60 ml) fresh whole milk

Approximately 1/16 oz (3 g) unsweetened cocoa powder plus extra for dusting

2 tbsp (30 ml) skim milk

Together again, coffee, milk and cocoa come together in an enjoyable new variation on a traditional theme: here they create a hot, intense and aromatic drink sweetened with a touch of cane sugar and cooled with soft milk “snow”. The unusual contrast between hot and cold make for a delightful surprise.

1. Prepare the espresso in a small cup or pour pitcher.

2. In a frothing pitcher, combine the liquid sugar, whole milk and approx 1/16

oz (3 g) of cocoa powder; heat it with the steam wand of your espresso

machine, being sure to keep the wand near the surface

3. Add the espresso to the heated mixture and combine, moving the frothing pitcher

with a circular movement. Pour into the glass.

4. Foam the skim milk in a clean frothing pitcher using the steam wand, and add it to

the mixture in the glass.

5. Decorate with a light dusting of cocoa powder, and serve.

Caramel Espresso recipe via illy coffee’s recipe community

1 shot illy Espresso

2/3 oz caramel sauce (20 ml)

3 oz fresh milk (45ml)

Ground nutmeg

1. Pour caramel sauce into a small serving glass

2. Prepare the espresso shot directly into the glass over the caramel sauce

3. Froth the milk, using the steam arm of your espresso machine

4. Gently pour frothed milk on top of the espresso

5. Garnish with a dusting of ground nutmeg and serve with a spoon.

Thanks for the tips on how to create a super cute holiday espresso bar. I have been looking for a way to spruce up that area. The eucalyptus leaves add a nice touch as well.
