Buying a bottle of sparkling wine can be intimidating when the selection is enormous and the prices are all over the place. And usually when you’re buying bubbly, it’s for a special occasion unlike the cheaper bottle of red to enjoy on those weekday evenings. So you want your sparkling wine to be good. We thought it would be helpful by choosing a few of the best sparkling wines that are sold at most grocery stores or wine shops and are under $30. You can screen shot this or paste into a note and use it when you head to the market. It’s especially useful if you’re a visual type like me!
Roederer Estate Brut – This was a tip from my brother who works as a winemaker in Napa and graduated from the Enology program at UC Davis. He said it’s one of the best and it’s only $18 and scored 92 points! By the way, he worked at Mumm for many years, which is mostly sparkling!
Gruet Brut – Intense notes of brioche with lemon, green apples and tropical fruit.
Mumm Napap Brut Prestige – Has won more medals than any other in its class.
Mumm Napa Cuvée – Great for Champagne cocktails and pairs well with sweet and spicy.
Gloria Ferrer Blanc de Noirs – Notes of strawberry, blackberry and vanilla with a pristine finish.
Francis Coppola Sofia Blanc de Blancs – Bright and fresh bursting with vibrant fruit notes. Beautiful bottle for presentation.
Freixenet Cordon Negro Brut – Dry style cava with a bold flavor.
Santa Margherita Sparkling Rose – Floral flavors lifted by white fruits and red berries.
Mumm Napa Valley Rosé Brut – Ripe Pinot Noir fruit, rich with black cherry and strawberry notes.
Albrecht Cremant D’Alsace Reserve – Winner of numerouos gold medals, this is full of fruits and richness.
And don’t forget a charming ice bucket for your bubbly! DIY here!
