Homemade White Chocolate Matcha Donuts

Donuts seem like a hard pastry to tackle since the dough can be intimidating, but rest assure, if you follow this recipe you will be making fried white chocolate match donuts and patting yourself on the back when you’re done! It’s really not as hard as it seems!

The dough recipe is obviously very important… as is the the glaze!  This one is simple and uses fast acting yeast to help it rise quicker. You leave it in a warm place for an hour or so and when it’s risen, you know it’s done.

Then roll it out about 1″ and use a 3″ biscuit cutters to cut the outside circles and then a smaller one for the center. You can find something in your home that would work too. We actually ended up using the end of a frosting tip for the middle since we didn’t have the exact circle size needed. Then you drop them in a pan of hot oil and they brown quickly!

The white chocolate matcha glaze is as good as it gets. Super simple to make and tastes exactly like white chocolate matcha! It’s made with white chocolate, powdered sugar, matcha and milk.

Sprinkled a little matcha powder over the top to garnish. A powder like this is perfect to use!

Pure heaven! We also use this dough recipe for our pumpkin filled donut holes too!

  • 1 teaspoonvanilla
  • 1 stickunsalted butter
  • 3 largeegg yolks
  • 3 cupsall-purpose flour
  1. In a stand alone mixer, add in the warm milk and the yeast. Whisk until combined and then let it sit for 5 minutes.
  2. Add in the egg yolk, flour, butter, sugar, salt and vanilla and mix with the dough attachment.
  3. Mix for 4 minutes until everything is combined.
  4. Remove dough and place on a floured surface. Knead into one large ball.
  5. Spray a medium bowl with oil and place the dough in the bowl.
  6. Cover with a dark towel and keep somewhere warm for the dough to rise.
  7. Wait 1 hour for the dough to double in size… you can make the filling while you’re waiting for this.
  8. When the dough has risen, punch it in the middle (kinda of fun in a weird way!) and then roll out 1-2" thick.
  9. Cut circles using biscuit cutters.
  10. Fill a medium pot halfway with canola oil and bring it to 350 degrees. Keep a thermometer in there so you can gauge the temperature, keeping it at 350 degrees.
  11. Drop two donuts in the hot oil and cook on each side until golden brown… about 35 seconds on each side.
  12. Remove and place in on a plate that's lined with a paper towel to soak the grease.
