Sharing 7 Ways to Make Back to School Fun!
This post is sponsored by I Love Ice Cream Cakes, all opinions are my own.
As the simplicity of summer comes to an end, we’re preparing for a new season, back to school! Just as we celebrate the beginning of summer, we cherish the beginning of a school year.
It’s a time for my children to make new memories, new friends, learn, explore, and meet their new teachers! We have a few traditions that we incorporate to make the start of the school season fun, whether kids are learning virtually or in the classroom this year!
Here are 7 Fun Back to School Traditions
Back to School Dinner
Every year, we host a back to school family dinner. The kids choose their favorite meal and we add charming decorations and indulge in an ice cream cake!
Back to School Dessert
Make the start of the school year sweet! My kids favorite, easy dessert is an I Love Ice Cream Cakes treat, which is great to keep stocked in your freezer… It’s the perfect way to make life’s little and big moments even sweeter! You can find a variety of ice cream cakes in the bakery or freezer section of your local grocery store, and online. They come in different sizes and fun flavors like Carvel®, OREO® and REESE’S.
This Carvel Ice Cream Cake with Confetti in family size is a celebration in itself! It’s made with those famous chocolate crunchies in between layers of vanilla and chocolate ice cream and fresh whipped frosting.
I buy mine at Kroger. Click here to find a store near you!
Back to School Shopping
It’s always fun for kids to pick out their own school supplies, a new pair of shoes and a few new outfits for back to school. We spend a day and go shopping for new items to add to their wardrobe as well as fun school supplies they can use at their desk.
During our special back to school dinner, we gift the kids a few new books to read during the year. Reading in the evening is one of my favorite family activities. Having a few new books to start the school year off is always a hit in our house!
Back to School Pictures
Like most families, we capture a few pictures in the morning before the first day of school! We also do this at the end of the school year to show their growth. It’s amazing to see how much they grow in one year!
We’ve always created a summer bucket list, but this year we’re doing it for the school year! Make a list of things you want to do as a family, on the weekends and during school breaks. From day trips, to special museums, a spring break beach vacation or even zoo camp! These are a few of the items on our bucket list.
Pick a Charity or Organization to Donate to Each School Year
Involve your kids in choosing a charity or organization to support during the school year. This can be a local organization like a zoo, food bank or local park. My children were really interested in adopting an elephant after watching Elephant. So we’ve decided to “adopt” an elephant for the year.
We hope you’re inspired to add some back to school traditions in your life! It’s a great way to make school fun and exciting! Wishing you all a happy and healthy school year!
