This hibiscus gin sour is a beautiful, pink cocktail and a classic sour drink. It’s perfect for parties and get togethers! The hibiscus doesn’t just give this creative gin cocktail a lovely color, but also a delightful, floral frangrance.
I knew hibiscus would go perfectly with gin and give the cocktail a beautiful shade of pink, so we whipped up a Hibiscus Gin Sour that’s lightly sweetened, smooth with a subtle of floral flavor. Similar to our whiskey sour, this recipe is smooth and refreshing.
I love experimenting with dried hibiscus flowers. We used them in an ice ring once and they turned it hot pink, which was awesome!
How To Make A Gin Sour
Here is everything that’s in a gin sour:
- Egg White – The egg white gives it a frothy layer, but you can also leave it out.
- Fresh Lemon Juice – Make sure to use fresh squeezed lemon juice.
- Gin – Any gin will work.
- Dried Hibiscus Flower – Used to make a simple syrup and to ganrish.
- Chambord – A raspberry liqueur
Add all of the ingredients in a large cocktail shaker with ice. Shake very hard for 30 seconds.
Strain into a small glass over a large ice cube.
Hibiscus Simple Syrup
- In a small sauce pan, simmer sugar and water until sugar has dissolved.
- Add in the hibiscus and simmer for another 15 minutes. Remove from heat and let it sit for another 20 minutes if you can!

Delicious. I used Botantist gin and added a 1/4 oz st Germain to add a slightly sweeter edge (very very mild sweetness addition) but just what I needed.
Hi Eden,
I am making this drink for 8 people and wanted to confirm would that really only be 2.5 teaspoons of syrup in the whole mixture?
Thanks!
Hi! Yes, you can add 1/2 ounce that works too!
This looks amazing, can’t wait to try! Where are these glasses from?
Hi!! I really want to make these and am wondering if it’s 1 egg white per drink, or 1 for every 2 servings?? It’s not in the ingredient list so I’m worried I’ll use too much/little and it’ll be weird. Thank you!! These look so amazing.
Hi! one egg white! 🙂
1 per serving?? Thank you so much for getting back to me so quickly. Making these tonight for a special social distanced dinner in the garden 🙂
The recipe serves 2, so just 1 egg white in the recipe and you’ll get two cocktails. You also don’t have to use egg white if you don’t want. It just makes a frothy top!
Hi, I would like to make this for bookclub…where should I buy the Hibiscus? I saw Hibiscus tea on Amazon?? Thank you!
Yes, something like this will work https://rstyle.me/+C7xZBKEqmQ_6PT1WtMcCjg

This is so refreshing and perfect for warm summer days.
I’m a sucker for floral cocktails, especially anything with hibiscus. This is definitely much needed right now as I’m self quarantining with a toddler that needs my constant attention. Love!
I’ve never tried a drink using hibiscus! I bet the syrup adds such a nice flavor!
This is so pretty! It also tastes amazing. Great for a girls night.
This drink looks so beautiful and flavorful! I love hibiscus and the glasses are gorgeous! I can’t wait to try this recipe out! Thank you.
