OrangeGinger2OrangeGinger3OrangeGinger4 There’s something so nostalgic about the classic glass punch bowl. It reminds me of my mother and my grandmother who would break the bowl out every holiday or special occasion. It was usually a non-alcoholic mix with a few scoops of ice cream…I think sherbet ice cream. I’m going to have to ask my mother what she was putting in our punch! I finally bought one not too long ago and it doubles as a cake stand and dome. Kind of genius. When I think of punch recipes I always imagine sugary concoctions made with cheap ingredients…I’m here to tell you, it doesn’t have to be like that! I set out to make something that I would actually drink. A lightly sweetened, spiked punch that will have my guests going back for more. The key is using fresh fruit and juicing it yourself. I used oranges, pineapple and grated ginger to create this yummy cocktail. I also used Ginger Ale, but you can make your own….here’s a good recipe for that. If you’re not going to serve the punch right away, you can leave the ice out of the punch and instead have an ice bucket to fill glasses, that way it won’t be watered down.
