This chocolate cherry crockpot cake is all kinds of delicious! It has wonderfully moist texture, the cherries work great with the scrumptious chocolate and they add a pop of color, perfect for Halloween or all year round. Plus, this is one easy slow cooker cake recipe!

This Gooey Chocolate Cherry Crockpot Cake is definitely going to be a Halloween tradition in our home!! Around this time a year, I keep my slow cooker on hand as it’s the best kitchen tool for yummy home-cooked meals on the fly! This gooey chocolate cherry cake recipe turned out fantastic and of course, it’s extremely easy to make.

The chocolate cake has almost like a moist gooey brownie texture and the cherries are a burst of sweet goodness! The cherries’ color makes it feel like a Halloween dessert too, but it’s really perfect for any time of year if you put them in a small bowl or cup. The recipe is so good!!

How To Make This Chocolate Cherry Crock Pot Cake – Step By Step

  • Grease the bottom of the slow cooker with butter, then heat to high.
  • Pour in the 2 cans of cherry pie filling and spread evenly on the bottom.
  • In a separate bowl, combine all of the dry ingredients. Whisk until all of the clumps are out and it’s smooth. Then sprinkle on top of the cherry pie filling in the Crock-Pot or slow cooker.
  • Melt 1 cup butter, then add in the vanilla.
  • Pour over the dry ingredients. You can give ONE slight stir (don’t mix it entirely, you want the cherries to stay at the bottom!!)
  • As it cooks, you can poke in there and push down any areas of the cake that need to be covered in the cherries to cook. The cherries boil over and cook the cake.
  • Let it cook for 2 hours on high
  • Serve with vanilla ice cream and make sure to pile on those yummy cherries!

Serving Suggestion For This Crock Pot Cake

Because of the lovely moist texture, this cake goes so well served in mugs, plus you can pile in the ice cream and it’s all self contained. Easy to eat and delicious what more can you ask for!

I bought the adorable cauldrons at the Williams-Sonoma Primm outlet for $4 a piece! Unfortunately they’re not available online, but if you love them, call the outlet and they’ll ship!

A Great Halloween Cake Recipe!

This cake is great all year round, but a shoe in for Halloween! With it’s warm, moist chocolate base and crimson red cherries, it just screams Halloween! Use the mini cauldrons to serve them up and they’ll be a rich and delicious dessert for any Halloween party.

An Easy Halloween Cake Recipe!

One of the best things about this delicious cake? It’s super simple to make! Crock Pots are often considered mainly for savory dishes but they work a treat on cakes, keeping them moist and flavorful.

There isn’t giant list of ingredients, many of which will be staples in your kitchen already. It takes about 10 mins to mix your ingredients and layer them into the crock pot, then leave for 2 hours and voila, a glorious crock pot cake!

Top Tips For Chocolate Cherry Crock Pot Cake

  • Make sure to grease the bottom of your slow cooker before placing in the ingredients.
  • Do not over stir the ingredients in the crock pot, you want to keep a layer of cherries.
  • Do not over check the crock pot during cooking, this can increase the cooking time.
  • Serve in mini bowls or mugs, great for parties.

Wow! This sounds and looks delicious! I have a question though – your ingredients list 1 1/2 cups of sugar and then 2 cups of sugar a few lines down. Is this a typo?
