These homemade curly fries are the perfect mix of crunchy, fluffy and well…..curly! Serve with my creamy garlic aioli, utterly addictive!

side shot of homemade curly fries

I’ve always wanted to make homemade curly fries, so I was ecstatic to try KitchenAid’s Spiralizer with Peel, Core and Slice attachment to fulfill my homemade fry obsession, haha!! This the first time I’ve used one of their attachments (I know!!) and it won’t be the last, because I love them just as much as I love my KitchenAid Stand Mixer! I’m trying the pasta attachment next! These homemade curly French fries were so good, I literally couldn’t stop eating them! We made the best garlic aioli sauce to dip them in and ate the entire batch for lunch… obviously I wouldn’t do this everyday, but oh my goodness, was it worth the indulgence!!

How To Make Homemade Curly Fries – Step By Step

Homemade Curly Fries

  • Using the Spiralizer with Peel, Core and Slice attachment, peel the fries and use the spiral to cut them into curly fries.
  • If you’re not frying them right away, place them in a bowl with cold water and place in the fridge. Drain, pat dry before frying.
  • Heat a few inches of vegetable oil in a large pot to 400 degrees.
  • In a few batches, cook potatoes until soft and golden brown. Place on a paper towel to let the excess oil drain.
  • We added paprika, garlic salt and chili powder in a bowl to season them!! SO GOOD!

Garlic Aioli Sauce

  • Whisk all of the ingredients in a bowl and ENJOY!

Homemade Curly Fries – The Best Type of Fry!

Waffle, shoestring, crinkle cut, sweet potato…there are many types of fry, but one species of fry is consistently top of internet polls….the curly fry! And for good reason. The shape of curly fries makes for an awesome delivery system for sauce, their shape also helps make them super crispy on the outside, but fluffy on the inside. And this recipe does them complete justice! Crunchy, slightly seasoned and not oily – give them a go, you will not be disappointed!

Loaded Curly Fries

We served these homemade curly fries with a scrumptious garlic aioli sauce, but these little golden curls of yumminess can make the perfect bed for more food! Load it up if you are feeling especially hungry/treat deprived.

You could opt for the classic chili cheese fries, or go for something like chicken bacon ranch fries, beef fajita fries, or philly cheesesteak fries with thinly sliced sirloin steak, grilled onions, and peppers under a blanket of cheddar. Get creative!

Homemade Garlic Aioli

This garlic ailoi is the perfect dip for these homemade curly fries. It’s creamy, tangy and a cinch to whip up – triple win! I’ve taken a bit of a shortcut and used mayonnaise as the base, then added minced garlic, lemon juice, salt and pepper. Quick, easy and very flavorful!

Top Tips For Homemade Curly Fries

  • Russet Potatoes are a great for these curly fries.
  • Cook the fries in batches, so as not to overcrowd and to ensure crispness.
  • Place freshly fried fries on a paper towel to absorb excess oil.
  • Season with paprika, chili powder and garlic salt.

These fries look amazing! I have such a soft spot for french fries (like…all kinds. Curly, regular, criss-cut, seasoned etc.) I have always wanted a KitchenAid and a spiralizer option makes it that much more enticing!
