Ikea Hack Bookshelf

Are you ready for the easiest Ikea hack bookshelf you’ve ever seen? I seem to have gone a little spray painting crazy in my house, but I can’t contain my excitement for this effortless transformation. I was looking for a brass bookshelf and I found a black metal one at Ikea for $70! With some gold metallic spray paint, I created an easy DIY brass shelf. The hard work was putting the shelf together (never fails I have to put Ikea furniture together twice!). After I assembled it, I brought it outside and spray painted the entire thing, except for the glass. I bought the shelf for my office that I’m still in the process of decorating. Slowly but surely it will get done : ) Have any of you hacked Ikea furniture that you love?

Excellent, it looks perfect! So fresh and inviting. How many cans of paint did it take? Thank you for sharing!

Thank you for your post. I was wondering how many cans of spray paint you needed for this project?

    Hi,
I love your idea and would like to paint my Fjalkinge units with this gold paint, however just wondering if the color has been changed after one year or not, I mean if it lost its shin and get matt or greyish

    Thanks
