There’s a secret to creating the BEST mule cocktail you’ve ever had. I learned about it from the Soho House and once you make it with this, you will know why!!
A mule should be full of strong ginger and spice flavor, which sometimes ginger beer can’t do alone! Making the mule with a strong ginger simple syrup is key and to make the ginger syrup really strong you have to use ginger juice instead of water! Or this pre-made ginger syrup is AMAZING too! It’s honestly so good.
I can tell every time I go to a restaurant if they use ginger beer or ginger syrup! It makes that much of a difference!

You can also make an Irish Mule by using the same recipe without adding pear to the syrup.
What Does Irish Whiskey Taste Like?
An Irish Mule uses Irish whiskey instead of scotch. Compared to the Scottish snifter, Irish whiskey uses a lot of barley and doesn’t have that smoky, burnt-rubber taste that you’ll find from the peat (which is essentially partially decayed vegetables) that’s in Scotch.
Irish whiskey tastes like a very, very smooth and less sweet than most American bourbons.
Homemade Simple Syrup
A key ingredient to making the mule magnificent is……simple syrup. You can buy it but making it produces an even richer flavor!
Homemade simple syrup is, well, simple to make! plus you can always create a batch that will last for a few weeks. Lovely!
