Zan and I got married 10 years ago (I know!!), and as newlyweds we loved to entertain in our tiny Studio City apartment. Now, fast forward so many years, and I’m still using most of our registry items to host family and friends. One thing that’s helped me build my collection of entertaining dinnerware is knowing that not everything needs to match. It’s not necessary to always use matching sets of plates and linens, especially if you’re just starting your collection of housewares! For a simple dinner party, I think it’s fun to mix and match it all! We happily teamed up with Macy’s Wedding Registry to show you how to set an elegant, mix and match table setting!
I adore the look of mixed plates using different textures and patterns that fall within the same color scheme. I used these Lenox Watercolor Horizons plates, created for Macy’s, to bring tranquility to the table and as a nod to the gorgeous sunsets we have here in California! I paired them with Portmeirion Sophie Conran Celadon Collection, the feminine Vietri Fresh collection and the Corelle Boutique Cherish Dinnerware. The colors are all pastel and look so beautiful together.
For the glassware, I chose the Lenox Tuscany stemless wine glasses. They’re made to emphasize the flavors and colors of the wine. And of course we needed the Lenox Tuscany Champagne flutes to go with them! I like adding a few different glasses to the table for red and white wines and champagne.
To complete the look, add stunning flowers for a centerpiece! I always add flowers, it’s a staple for table setting décor. I adore how this setting turned out and how we used different dishes from separate collections. I hope you’re inspired to mix it up!
