SpicyPopcornThere’s something about spicy popcorn on the 4th of July… probably just because it has the word pop in it ; ) Okay joking aside, as we gear up for a four day weekend, I wanted to share a quick and easy spicy popcorn recipe with you! It’s the perfect road trip snack or a great appetizer to munch on for a 4th of July BBQ. I used all organic ingredients – spices, kernels, butter and oil and it turned out all kinds of amazing. This is one of those snacks you can’t stop eating and if you’re a major spice lover, you will devour this popcorn!

Spicy Popcorn

1/2 teaspoon turmeric
1/2 teaspoon chipotle chili powder
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/8 teaspoon crushed cayenne pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon olive oil
3 tablespoons butter
3/4 cup popcorn kernels

Directions:
Combine all of the spices into a small bowl and set aside.
Melt 3 tablespoons butter and set aside.
In a tall sauce pot with a fitted lid, heat 1 tablespoon olive oil until sizzling.
Add in the popcorn kernels and cover with the lid. Let it sit for a second, then shake the pan around over the heat. When you hear that first pop, you can shake the pot (with the lid on) so the popcorn doesn’t burn.
Once the popcorn is done popping, transfer it to a large bowl and coat it with the melted butter.
Toss with spices and mix thoroughly so that all of the popcorn is coated with the spice mix. Happy 4th!!

Love your site, but not the new layout. It’s very hard to read on my iPhone, the photos are huge and the text is teeny tiny, and I have to finger scroll in order to read around any photos. Please take a look on an iPhone and try to adjust:)
    Thanks!!
