The first step to a backyard makeover is to meet with a professional! I’ve admired Molly of Molly Wood Garden Design for sometime now! Her work is absolutely stunning and has been featured in Better Homes and Gardens, Sunset, Luxe, Coastal Living and many more! So I’ve kept her in mind for when we were ready to update our backyard. Right now our backyard is pretty ugly. We haven’t done anything to it since we moved in, but I’ve literally been dreaming of the day we can do some updates! We don’t plan on staying in this home forever so we want to spruce it up on a budget.

Laying the foundation of the makeover with a professional is the safest bet for making your vision a reality. They have the insight and connections that make the job much easier. I scheduled a consultation with Molly for our yard and she gave me some incredible advice, a solid plan, plant recommendations and ideas that will fit my budget. I’m excited to share the process, starting with a small patio design coming soon and then the rest this spring! We’re going to bring in about 15 giant ficus trees to block our neighbor looking straight down into our yard AND we’re getting rid of most of the grass in the back in order to preserve our oak tree and water! I’m also really looking forward to learning more about gardening and outdoor design. The more experience I have now, the better our dream backyard will look one day! In the meantime, I’ve included some of Molly’s INCREDIBLE work!! If you’re in the Southern California area and need a yard designer check her out!

I’m absolutely sure that the pale grey New England style garden with built in bench and standard olive trees is by English garden Designer Claire Mee. You should not be attributing her work to another person before taking the trouble to check it out.
Too much of this goes on with designers who are starting out and a bit unscrupulous.

I think you are right! Thank you for letting us know… we thought it was Molly’s work. The photo has been taken down! We would never not credit an artist on purpose! Thanks again!

    Hello,

I am loving the white door with the 2 sidelites – I think its the front door? I am currently building a house and am trying to order something similar. If you wouldn’t mind letting me know if that door is wood, new or old?

The pics of your home and garden are fabulous!

    Thanks so much,
    Noelle
