With the holidays just around the corner (62 days until Christmas…I know!) I’m sure you’re all looking for some charming gift inspiration. I like giving gifts that I’ve made, but I tend to stray away from stuff that is too crafty and opt for adding charm to things that are practical. I absolutely love the idea of sprucing up a set of popular kitchen products. Adding just a touch of color creates a beautiful gift that you can’t buy at the store! BAM (just a little Emeril tribute.) Tie it all together with some linen kitchen towels and it makes a wonderful gift. If you’re in the USA you can watch the Lifetime how-to video, otherwise, read the very easy instructions below to create your own!

Supplies
Bamboo cutting board and wooden utensils.
Small paint that’s waterproof and good for wood. You can buy non-toxic, vegetable-based, organic. Whatever you prefer. Remember the paint is only on the edge of the board.
Paint brush
Sanding paper
Painters tape

Directions
Using a small paint brush, brush the paint around the edge of the board.
Don’t worry if you get a little on the top or bottom of the board because you’ll sand it off after it’s dried.
When the first coat is dry, add another one.
Once the paint is completely dry, sand any paint mistakes away with the sanding paper.

For the utensils, tape off the area you want to paint. Then just like the boards, add two coats of paint and let it dry.

I bought the boards and kitchen towels at World Market.
