4th of July Rice Krispie Treats

These 4th of July Rice Krispie Treats are made with brown butter, vanilla and red, white and blue cornflowers. We don't use any artifitial dye! They stay fresh for several days so you can enjoy them all week long.

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces unsalted butter
  • 12 ounces Rice Krispies 1 box
  • 20 ounces mini marshmallows large are fine too
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup cornflower petals

Instructions

  • To make the treats, start by melting the butter in a large pot over low heat. For brown butter rice krispie treats, melt the butter until it becomes light brown in color. It gives it a delicious brown butter flavor.

  • Add the marshmallows and stir until it's completely melted.

  • Then, add the Rice Krispies cereal and stir, using a rubber spatula, until it's completely coated with the marshmallow mixture.

  • Add in the cornflowers and mix.

  • Spray a 9x13 baking sheet with cooking spray or butter it well.
  • Once everything is mixed together, place the mixture into the prepared baking dish
  • Use a piece of parchment paper or wax paper and slightly press down so they're flat on top. The paper acts as a barrier and makes it easy to create an even layer without sticky hands.

  • Allow them to cool for at least 30 minutes to 1 hour before cutting and serving.
