A lightly sweetened lemaonde with a homemade berry simple syrup.
Servings: 5 cups
- 1 cup lemon juice
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 cup mixed berries strawberries, blueberries, blackberries or raspberries. You'll use 1 cup of berry syrup for this recipe.
- 4 cups water divided into 1 cup and 3 cups
In a sauce pan combine 3/4 cup sugar, 1 cup of water and mixed berries.
Heat on medium until sugar has melted and berries are soft.
Muddle the berries to smash them (you can also use a blender to really blend the flavors together)
Strain the mixture through a seive into a bowl. Toss whatever remains in the seive away.
In a pitcher add 1 cup of the berry syrup, lemon juice and water and stir.
Add ice, sliced lemons and berries to thw pitcher before serving.
Add more berry syrup if you want the recipe to be sweeter.
You can also use honey instead of sugar for this lemonade.
It will stay fresh for a few days in the refrigerator. Stir before serving as it can separate.
