These 4th of July Rice Krispie Treats are made with brown butter, vanilla and red, white and blue cornflowers. We don't use any artifitial dye! They stay fresh for several days so you can enjoy them all week long.
Spray a 9x13 baking sheet with cooking spray or butter it well.
Melt the butter in a large pot over low heat. For a rich, nutty flavor, keep going until it turns golden brown.
Add the marshmallows and stir until smooth.
Remove from heat and stir in vanilla, then add the Rice Krispies. Fold everything together until coated. Add cornflower petals and give it one last gentle stir.
Transfer to a greased 9x13 pan and press down using parchment paper for a smooth top (no sticky fingers!).
Use a piece of parchment paper or wax paper and slightly press down so they're flat on top. The paper acts as a barrier and makes it easy to create an even layer without sticky hands.
Allow them to cool for at least 30 minutes to 1 hour before cutting and serving.
