1tspvanilla extract
For Mummies
2 bagswhite candy melts
45 mediumcandy eyes
Instructions
Brown the butter: Melt the butter in a large pot over medium heat. Continue cooking, stirring often, until it turns golden brown and smells toasted and nutty.
Melt the marshmallows: Reduce the heat to low and add the marshmallows. Stir until completely melted and smooth.
Add the vanilla: Stir in the vanilla extract.
Add the cereal: Remove the pot from the heat and fold in the Rice Krispies until evenly coated in the marshmallow mixture.
Press into the pan: Transfer the mixture to a parchment-lined 9 x 13-inch pan. Place another sheet of parchment on top and gently press into an even layer. Don't pack the mixture down too firmly.
Let them set: Let the treats cool and set for about 1 hour.
Cut: Lift the treats from the pan and cut into 24 rectangles using a lightly buttered knife.
Melt the candy coating: Melt one bag of white candy melts in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each one. If the coating is too thick, stir in a little canola oil until smooth.
Dip: Dip the top and sides of each Rice Krispie treat into the melted candy coating and place on parchment paper.
Add the eyes: Add two candy eyes to each treat while the coating is still soft.
Let them sit for 1 hour, then cut into rectangles with a buttered knife.
Make the mummy bandages: Melt the second bag of candy melts and transfer to a piping bag or zip-top bag. Snip a small opening and drizzle the coating back and forth over each treat to create mummy bandages.
Set: Let the treats sit at room temperature until the candy coating is completely firm.

Notes
Use fresh marshmallows for the softest, gooeyest treats.Keep the heat low once you add the marshmallows.Don't press the cereal mixture too firmly into the pan or the treats can become hard.Butter your knife before cutting to prevent sticking. If the candy melts are too thick, add canola oil a little at a time. You may not need the entire tablespoon.Add the candy eyes while the coating is still soft so they stick.Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. For the best texture, make them the day before or the day you plan to serve them.
