For these appetizers, we went for a fresh and light seafood theme and all of the dishes pair perfectly wit chips!
Fish and Chips!
My favorite idea is the twist we created on โfish and chipsโ! Homemade, fried battered fish on top of a blue corn chip, with a homemade tartar sauce. Itโs absolutely delicious and such a fun take on traditional fish and chips! Recipe below!
Ahi Poke Appetizer
We are HUGE poke fans and Ahi poke is perfect for parties! This recipe is so good and extremely easy to make! It pairs with Guacamole or Multigrain chips. We made individual bowls of poke for the Oscar party and garnished with a chip.

3 Charming Oscar Party Appetizers
Ingredients
Fish and Chips
- Pan Fried Fish
- 1 cup flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup water
- 2 cups vegetable oil
- 1 pound fresh cod, cut into chunks
Tartar Sauce
- 1/2 cup mayo
- 1 1/2 teaspoons lemon juice
- 3 tablespoons dill relish
Ahi tuna bowl
- 1.5 pounds raw tuna
- 5 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1/2 cup sliced green onions
- 1/4 cup dried roasted seaweed, 1 sheet .88 ounces
- 2 roasted garlic cloves, chopped
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
- chili flakes
- avocado
- radish
Instructions
Fish and chips
- Lightly season the fish filets with salt and pepper, then cut into 1 inch chunks.
- In a bowl, combine the flour, salt, baking powder, water and milk and mix until combined.
- Heat the oil in a stainless steel, non-stick or cast iron pan.
- Emerge the fish into the batter, then scoop out a few pieces and add them to the hot oil.
- You should hear the oil simmer and crackle.
- Once one side of the fish is golden brown, turn and cook the other.
Tartar sauce
- Mix all of the ingredients in a bowl until combined. Scoop onto chips! Serve immediately.
Ahi tuna bowl
- Dice the tuna into 1/2 inch squares.
- Add the tuna, soy sauce, green onions, roasted seaweed and garlic in a bowl and fold together.
- Divide between 4 small dishes and add sliced avocado, radish, sesame seeds and chili flakes on top! Serve immediately.
