Apple mountain pies, also known as campfire pies or hobo pies, are buttery, sweet apple pies cooked over a campfire in a pie iron. They have a sweet homemade apple pie filling and a crispy, super buttery crust. They are absolutely delicious!

Our campfire apple pies are a delicious mix of buttery, crispy toasted bread and sweet apple pie filling.

We’ve been making campfire apple pies since we were kids. They’re honestly one of my favorite campfire desserts, I’ll even go as far as saying they’re right up there with S’mores. You really have to make them and try this recipe to know how good they are.

The best part about mountain pies is that you can create any pie flavor you want. We’ve made peach campfire pies and pumpkin mountain pies and they all turn out buttery and delicious.

Also, check out our peach mountain pie recipe too! It’s just as good as apple!

Yum! I haven’t had a hobo pie in years! Probably since I was a kid. I didn’t know you could still buy the irons. I’m totally getting one!

Today was the first time I ever saw the term Hobo Pie. I love it. In South Africa we call them jaffles. 🙂
