How to Make a Burrata Platter

Ingredient Notes

Before diving into the assembly of your burrata platter, you’ll need to gather your ingredients. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Fresh Burrata Cheese – I use fresh burrata that comes in a brine. I like to use the large burrata ball and the small burrata balls as well.
  • Marinated Cherry Tomatoes – Recipe for marinated cherry tomatoes is in the recipe card below. You can find cherry tomatoes year-round at your local grocery store. They come in different colors like orange too.
  • Baguettes – Slice and toast up a baguette to serve with the burrata. You can make crusty bread with french bread or sourdough bread.
  • Apples – Serve these alone or wrap prosciutto around them.
  • Prosciutto
  • Olives – I love to use Castelvetrano olives or kalamata olives.
  • Salt and Pepper
  • Fresh Herbs – Fresh basil leaves, thyme, rosemary and mint leaves are all great ways to garnish a burrata platter.

Preparation

If you’re going to marinated your tomatoes, follow the recipe in the recipe card below and add them to the platter. You can also use fresh cherry tomatoes alone without marinating.

Next, slice the apples into wedges and drape a slice of prosciutto over each wedge.

If you’re making crostini, you can do this before by slicing a baguette into 1/4″ slices and placing the slices directly onto a cookie sheet. Brush olive oil on both sides. Then bake at 425 degrees for about 5 minutes on each side.

Assemble

The fun part! Start by placing your burrata in the center and a few on the side of a marble platter. Next, arrange your marinated cherry tomatoes around the burrata, making sure to leave space for the other ingredients.

Then, add your toasted baguette slices to the board, fanning them out around the tomatoes.

Add your apple slices with prosciutto next to the baguette, and place your bowl of olives next to those.

Finishing Touches

To finish off your burrata platter, drizzle balsamic glaze over the top of the burrata and around the tomatoes. Sprinkle a bit of additional sea salt and pepper on top of the tomatoes for flavor. Serve immediately or let sit until your guests arrive.

Marinated Cherry Tomatoes

These are fantastic, easy to make, and perfect for a burrata platter. The full recipe is in the recipe card below but here are the ingredients you’ll need to make marinated cherry tomatoes:

  • Cherry Tomatoes – Different color cherry tomatoes look pretty for a platter. You can decide what ones you prefer to use.
  • Honey – I only use local honey when cooking or baking.
  • Garlic – Use a press or a zester to grate the garlic.
  • Champagne Vinegar – You can also use apple cider vinegar if you have that.
  • Chili Flakes – These add a little spice to the tomatoes.
  • Fresh Basil – I roughly chop the basil and add it to the tomatoes.

Recipe Tips and Variations

  • Heirloom tomatoes are a great option to add to a burrata board.
  • You can also add mozzarella cheese for more variation.
  • Add some Calabrian peppers for spice.
