Easy Cherry Mojito Recipe

I’m a big fan of mojitos (especially a coconut mojito!) and I’m obsessed with anything cherry—have you tried my roasted cherry gin sodas? So of course, I had to combine the two. This cherry mojito is sweet, tangy, and super refreshing. It’s a fun twist on the classic and perfect for any occasion, from Valentine’s Day to the 4th of July and everything in between.

It’s the perfect addition to a mojito bar, ideal for entertaining and letting guests customize their own flavorful creations.

Cherry Mojito Ingredient Notes

White rum, lime juice, cherry juice, simple syrup and mint leaves in bowls.

Fresh Mint Leaves: The key ingredient for a mojito, fresh mint leaves add a cooling, aromatic flavor that perfectly complements the drink’s sweetness and tartness.

Simple Syrup: A combination of sugar and water, this sweetener blends seamlessly into the cocktail, balancing the lime’s acidity and the cherry juice’s tartness.

White Rum: A light and crisp rum that serves as the base spirit, adding a subtle warmth and depth to the mojito without overpowering the fresh flavors.

Cherry Juice: Sweet and slightly tangy, cherry juice gives this mojito its signature flavor and a beautiful deep red hue.

Fresh Lime Juice: Bright and zesty, lime juice brings a refreshing tartness that balances the sweetness of the simple syrup and cherry juice.

Club Soda: This sparkling water adds fizz and lightness to the mojito, making it crisp and refreshing with every sip.

Fresh Cherries and Lime Slices (Optional for Garnish): These garnishes not only enhance the drink’s presentation but also add an extra touch of freshness and flavor.

How to Make a Cherry Mojito

Pouring soda water into cherry juice to make a cherry mojito.

Muddle the Mint: Add mint leaves and simple syrup to a tall sturdy glass. Using a muddler or the back of a spoon, gently muddle the mint to release its natural oils. Be careful not to tear the mint, which can make the drink bitter.

Add the Liquids: Pour in the white rum, cherry juice, and lime juice. Stir the mixture to combine the flavors.

Add Ice and Club Soda: Fill the glass with ice cubes, then top off with club soda for a light and fizzy finish. Stir gently to mix everything together.

Garnish and Serve: For a vibrant and festive presentation, garnish your cherry mojito with a sprig of fresh mint, a lime wedge, and a cherry.

Recipe Tips & Variations

Adjust sweetness: Add extra simple syrup for a sweeter sip, or reduce it for a tarter twist.

Use crushed ice: It chills the drink faster and gives a more authentic mojito texture.

Choose quality cherry juice: Go for 100% cherry juice—skip the artificially flavored versions.

How to muddle mint: Gently press mint leaves with simple syrup to release their oils without tearing, keeping the drink fresh and not bitter.

Make it a mocktail: Swap the rum for a zero-proof spirit or just use extra sparkling water.

Try it frozen: Blend everything with ice for a refreshing slushy version.

Use black cherry juice: For a deeper, slightly sweeter flavor, black cherry juice adds a fun twist.

  • 2 ounces club soda
