How to Make a Bubble Gum Cocktail
Supplies
- 28 oz Jar
- Fine Mesh Strainer
- Cocktail Shaker
- Cocktail Jigger
- Coupe or Martini Glass
Ingredients
Bubble Gum Infused Vodka: Recipe in the recipe card below.
15 pieces of bubble gum: Preferably the classic double-double gum for a classic flavor.
24 oz vodka: Any decent quality vodka will work.
Bubble Gum Infused Sour
Bubblegum-flavored vodka: Make this a week ahead of time to use.
Fresh lemon juice: Only use freshly squeezed lemon juice for this recipe. You can use Meyer lemons or Eureka lemons.
Simple syrup: This is used to add a little bit of sweetness to the drink. It’s made using equal parts sugar and water. Follow my guide to making simple syrup for more information.
Egg white: This is optional but recommended for a creamy texture and a well-balanced drink.
Infusing Vodka
Infusing vodka with the nostalgic flavor of bubble gum is straightforward but requires a bit of patience. Start by combining 15 pieces of bubble gum with 3 cups of vodka in a jar.
Seal the mixture and let it sit for a week, allowing the essence of the gum to meld with the vodka fully. After a week, strain the mixture through a mesh sieve to remove the gum. Voila! Your bubble gum vodka is ready to be the base of some fantastic cocktails.
Recipe Tips and Variations
- Add a fun touch to your drinks using Hubba Bubba tape as a garnish.
- This infusion is best used within the first month for optimal flavor.
- Save time by infusing larger batches and storing them in smaller jars for future use.
- To make a mocktail version, replace the vodka with a zero-proof spirit and follow the same infusion process.
- You can substitute lemon juice for lime juice in this recipe if you don’t have lemons.
Whether you’re a seasoned mixologist or a curious beginner, bubble gum vodka offers a surprisingly sophisticated yet playful addition to your cocktail repertoire. Its unique blend of sweetness and nostalgia will make any gathering memorable.

Bubble gum vodka is a sweet, flavored vodka that captures the iconic taste of bubble gum through an infusion process. By soaking bubble gum in vodka, the spirit adopts the candy’s distinct flavor and aroma, creating a unique and delightful ingredient for various cocktails.
Bubble gum vodka is versatile and can be enjoyed in several ways. While it’s fantastic on its own, chilled or over ice for those who enjoy sweet liquors, it truly shines as a cocktail base. My favorite way to enjoy bubble gum vodka is in a bubble gum sour, where its sweetness perfectly balances the tartness of fresh lemon juice, enhanced by the smooth texture provided by an optional egg white.
