How To Make Mummy Halloween Brownies – Step By Step
Mummy Brownies
- Follow the baking directions on the Nestlรฉ Toll House Chocolate Baking Mix to make brownies. Remove and save about 30 semi-sweet morsels for later.
- Pour brownie batter into a 13 x 9, greased baking dish and bake for 20 to 25 minutes.
- Remove and let cool, then using a 2 inch round pastry cutter, make 15 circles and place on a parchment-lined cutting board.
- In a double broiler, melt the white chocolate until smooth, then remove and let it cool for about 10 minutes.
- Add the melted white chocolate to a piping bag, fitted with a flat edge piping tip.
- Layer the frosting on the brownies like a mummy! Then add 2 morsel eyes for a deliciously spooky finish.
Chocolate Fondue
- Melt the semi-sweet morsels and heavy whipping cream in a medium saucepan on medium heat, stirring constantly until smooth. Pour into a microwaveable bowl or pot to serve (this way you can easily put the bowl in the microwave for a few seconds if the morsels start to harden). Melt white morsels over a double boiler. Pour and swirl over the semi-sweet chocolate morsels or pipe the melted white morsels to make a design. Dip your favorite fruit or snack and enjoy!
Easy Halloween Brownies
These spooky little mummies are not only adorable, but are also easy to make. We used NESTLรยฎ TOLL HOUSEยฎ Brownies & More Chocolate Baking Mix with Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels (the morsels come in the box, so no need to buy extra!) and NESTLรยฎ TOLL HOUSEยฎ White Morsels for the mummy frosting.
The Brownies & More Chocolate Baking Mix allows you to customize your own treats, like these mummies! But a party platter isnโt complete with just one treat. Try adding a little flair with some fondue.
Easy and Fun Cake Decorating!
These Halloween brownies are not only a cinch to make but also easy and fun to decorate – you can get the whole family involved – double win! The best bit about decorating these mummy brownies is that mummies aren’t wrapped perfectly, ditto for the brownies. It works better if it’s a bit less uniform, so you don’t need to painstakingly pipe the lines on in perfect lines, get a bit funky with that piping, it looks great! Pop a couple of chocolate chip eyes on and you have yourselves an army of mummies!
Tips For Mummy Halloween Brownies
- Don’t completely fold in the flour.Folding in the flour completely will overdevelop the gluten. And too much gluten will make your brownies dense and chewy. Instead, fold in the flour until there are some streaks of flour left in the batter.
- Use a room temperature egg. Cold eggs can result in a denser texture than desired. And, they won’t mix together as easily. Let your eggs sit out of the fridge for a half hour before baking.
- Check on your brownies before the final time suggested by the recipe. There are so many variables to consider when baking — oven quirks, type of pan you’re using, etc. — that you’ll want to be sure to check your brownies at least five minutes before the recipe says they’ll be done. Because just one to two minutes in the oven too long can be the difference between great and “eh” brownies.
- Use parchment paper, or wax paper when cooking your halloween brownies This not only helps prevent the brownies from sticking to the pan, but it also makes it easy to get them out of the pan.
