Just like that, it’s October! And we’re celebrating this month with a fall twist on Jello shots! We made hard apple cider shots and they’re delicious! To make them beautiful, we created a batch of apple cider Jello and then a batch of white Jello with sweetened condensed milk. We combined them, which gives it a cool look. See below! Cheers to the fall!!

How To Make Hard Apple Cider Jello Shots

  • Take the water and 2 cups hard cider and put in a pot with the sugar.
  • Add the gelatin and let proof for a few minutes.
  • Once swelled or bloomed, put the pot over medium heat and bring to a slow boil until the gelatin is dissolved.
  • Take off the heat and add in the remaining 2 cups of hard cider.
  • Pour the mixture into a square 9×9 baking dish and cover in the fridge for a few hours until set.
  • Once set, cut into small cubes and put in a 9×9 square dish, piling them on top of each other.

How To Make Condensed Milk Jello

  • Mix 1/2 cups cold water and 2 gelatin packets together in a mixing bowl and let proof.
  • Add in 1 1/2 cups boiling water and mix until gelatin is completely dissolved.
  • Mix in one can of sweetened condensed milk. Let the mixture come to room temperature and pour 1 cup over the cubed cider Jello.
  • Cover and let set in fridge. You can use the remaining amount to make sweetened condensed milk Jello as well.

What Are Jello Shots?

These jiggly, tasty treats – sometimes called ‘jelly shots’ – are simply jelly spiked with alcohol. They are super fun and so easy to make. They can be created a few days in advance, if needed. This recipe uses hard cider for an alcoholic kick.

Hard Apple Ciders

Cider is one of our favorite fall ingredients. I would use a local cider company if possible. However, if not here’s some great hard ciders options.

  • Square Mile Hopped Apple Cider
  • Angry Orchard Green Apple Cider
  • Strongbow’s Gold Hard Apple Cider
  • Samuel Smith’s Organic Cider
  • Famille Dupont Organic Cider

A Perfect Halloween Party Jello Shot

With it’s warm apple cider flavor and silky condensed milk, this is a great treat for Fall events, such as Halloween parties. And their Autumnal colors really set the scene!

Top Tips For Hard Apple Cider Jello Shots

  • You can batch make these in advance and store in the fridge for up to 10 days. But the shots will deteriorate over time, they’re at their best within 2 days of making.
  • You can even make soft cider, kid friendly, jello shots. Just don’t get them mixed up!
  • Remember to drink responsibly 😉
