Agua fresca is one of my go-to drinks when the weather heats up! It’s super easy to make, ultra refreshing, and always hits the spot. Just blend fruit, water, lime juice, and a little sweetener, and you’ve got the perfect drink to sip all day long.
I’m sharing four of my favorite combos: Watermelon Cucumber Lime, Mango Pineapple, Peach Lavender, and Guava Coconut. Let’s blend up a batch (or two)!

Pin ItAgua Fresca Inspired by LA Street Fairs
One of my favorite things about warm days in LA is spotting those big glass jars of agua fresca at street fairs and farmers’ markets. You just know it’s going to be a good day when you’re sipping one of those icy, fruit-filled drinks!
They’re usually served from oversized glass barrels with a ladle and poured into plastic cups—simple, nostalgic, and so refreshing.

How to Make Any Agua Fresca (in 3 easy steps!)
You only need 4 cups of chopped fruit, 3 cups water, 1/2 – 1 cup of sugar or maple syrup (more or less), and the juice of 1 lime. Here’s how to throw it all together.
- Chop your fruit into chunks—anything from watermelon to mango works!
- Blend it up with the lime juice and sweetener until smooth. I do this in batches if my blender’s full.
- Pour the fruit mixture into a pitcher, add the water and a handful of ice, and give it a stir.
Pro tip: Want it extra smooth? Strain it through a sieve before adding the water and ice.

Recipe Tips
Prep your fruit right: Peel and remove any rinds, seeds, or tough skins before chopping. You want smooth, juicy fruit for the best flavor.
Sweeten your way: Use whatever sweetener you love—sugar, agave, honey, maple syrup, or even stevia. Taste and adjust!
Blend it smooth: A high-speed blender (like a Vitamix) makes all the difference when blending fruit into a silky base.
Strain if you want: For a smoother drink, pour the blended mixture through a fine mesh sieve to remove pulp.
Work in batches: If your blender’s on the smaller side, blend the fruit in two parts and mix everything together in a pitcher.
How to Store Agua Fresca
Agua fresca is best enjoyed fresh, but you can store it in the fridge for up to 3 days. Just keep it in a sealed pitcher or bottle, and skip the ice until you’re ready to serve so it doesn’t get watered down. It’s also a great make-ahead option, blend it a day before your party and chill!
Set Up an Agua Fresca Bar
If you’re hosting, make it fun with an Agua fresca bar! Whip up a few big batches in different flavors and pour them into large glass containers or drink dispensers.
Add cups, ladles, and a tray of fresh fruit for garnish. It’s a charming and colorful setup guests will love.

Did you add the lavender in the blender or after as a garnish
For the watermelon cucumber agua was the cucumber blended with the watermelon or the cucumber was only used to garnish? It’s not very clear but looks delicious.
Hi! Yes, blend it together. It’s so good!
These look great! Where did you find the jugs with the wood handles? They look much nicer than the traditional ones.
I know, those are great! They were from World Market and now they’re sold out! I will search and see if I can find something similar.
I can’t wait to make the guava and coconut agua fresca! For the canned guavas, did you use guava paste or guavas in syrup?? Thank you!
Hi Ashley! We used guava paste, so good!!
These look delicious! I can’t wait to try them. If making for a party, how far in advance can you make them? Or, how long do they keep when in the refrigerator?
Thank you! They are best served immediately but will last 2 days in the fridge. They will need to stirred and I wouldn’t add ice until you’re ready to serve. Hope you enjoy!
Love these! Where did you purchase the jars/vitroleros?
Thank you! I bought them at World Market but many years ago. You can buy similar ones here https://rstyle.me/+_uhFhJ-33dAcrYgIOX63sw
