You’ve probably heard of the classic rum and coke or vodka soda, but it’s not often you’ll hear about a tequila soda! Similar to a gin and tonic, but made with tequila. We added muddled strawberries to add a little natural flavor and color to the cocktail.

This cocktail reminds me of our other favorite, low-sugar cocktail, Ranch Water. Ranch water is also made with tequila and sparkling water. It’s one of our favorite summer cocktail recipes too!

For another summer cocktail, try a classic sea breeze!

We served these at our summer movie night and they were a big hit! They remind me a little of our strawberry Hennessy cocktail too, which also uses freshly muddled strawberries and bubbles!

Strawberry Tequila Sodas – A Great Batch Cocktail

Make a batch before your guests arrive and serve them on a tray! You’ll just multiply the recipe by the number of cocktails you’ll want to serve. Either serve from a pitcher or have them in glasses for guests to grab.

How To Muddle Fruit

Muddling is a key process in lots of cocktails and this strawberry tequila soda calls from some good ‘ol muddling! Muddling is a bartender’s technique for releasing flavor from solid cocktail ingredients.

The basic idea is as simple as crushing the fruit or herb.

Fruits and vegetables can take a fair amount of pressure. A broad muddler is a great choice, especially if it has teeth to break into the skin. You can also improvise with the back of a wooden spoon, a mortar, and pestle, or even a spoon or fork.

Add berries into a cocktail shaker or the glass you’ll be serving it in.

Press down and twist to muddle. Hold the glass steady and cup the end of the muddler with your dominant hand.

Then follow the rest of the recipe and you have yourself a gorgeous, fruity strawberry tequila soda!

  • Opt for the best quality strawberries available.
  • You can use a wooden spoon to muddle, or a broad sturdy kitchen implements, if you don’t have a muddler.
