Dried flowers hung from a gold bar.

I recently hosted one for an 18th birthday party, which was a fun and unique experience. We sipped mocktails, indulged in desserts, and each guest went home with two beautiful dried flower arrangements – instant decor that lasts forever!

I love dried flowers because they never wilt, donโ€™t require water, and add a natural, effortless beauty to any space. They also make wonderful gifts! This party idea is great for birthdays, bridal or baby showers, or even just a fun girlโ€™s night in.

For a fun twist, I held a friendly competition for the best dried flower arrangement, and the winner took home a copy of my book, Entertaining with Charm! It was an easy way to add excitement and make the night even more memorable.

What Youโ€™ll Need

To make it easy and enjoyable for guests, hereโ€™s what I provided:

  • Dried flowers: I ordered a variety from a flower farm in California (Etsy and local farms are great options, too!).
  • Vases: Each guest got two vases to create different styles.
  • Floral clippers: Sharp scissors or wire cutters work, but I gave everyone floral shears for easy cutting.
  • Floral tape or wire (optional): Helpful for creating structured arrangements.

Setting the Scene

Creating the right ambiance is key to making this dried flower arranging party feel magical and inviting. I focused on soft lighting, delicate floral details, and natural elements to enhance the experience. Hereโ€™s how I set the scene:

Flower Confetti: Scatter dried flower petals across the table for a romantic, organic touch.

Battery-Operated Candles: Placed flickering candles around the space for a warm, cozy glow.

String Lights: Wove in delicate fairy lights to add a soft, ambient shimmer.

Neutral & Textured Linens: Used simple table runners and linens to complement the natural beauty of the dried flowers.

Gold Bar Above the Table: A stunning focal point where I hung dried flowers for added height and elegance.

Over-the-Table Display

One of my favorite elements of this dried flower party was the Over-the-Table Iron Rod, which created a beautiful, elevated focal point. This adjustable rod clamps securely to both sides of the table, making it an effortless way to add height and dimension to the setup.

For this gathering, I hung dried flowers I purchased from Full Belly Farm from the rod, creating a cascading, natural installation that felt whimsical and organic. It added so much charm and tied the entire theme together.

The best part? This rod is incredibly versatile! You can use it for any occasion – think balloons for birthdays, garlands for the holidays, or even hanging greenery and twinkle lights for a cozy dinner party. Itโ€™s an easy way to elevate your tablescape and make any event feel special. โœจ

How to Arrange Dried Flowers

  1. Pick a focal flower: Start with a standout bloom, like dried hydrangeas, roses, or pampas grass.
  2. Add texture: Mix in different shapes and textures like bunny tails, billy balls, or eucalyptus.
  3. Layer in height: Use taller stems in the back or center and shorter ones around the edges.
  4. Play with color: Neutrals are timeless, but pops of deep rust, blush, or lavender make a statement.
  5. Fluff & shape: Gently bend or trim stems to fit your vase, keeping the arrangement organic and natural-looking.

Edenโ€™s Tips for Hosting a Dried Flower Party

Go seasonal: Incorporate seasonal colors and textures to match the vibe (think warm autumn tones or soft spring pastels).

Pair with cocktails: A floral-inspired drink like a lavender gin fizz or rose spritz fits the theme perfectly.

Make it a gift: This is a fun way for guests to take home something meaningfulโ€”perfect for a birthday or shower favor!

Mix vase styles: Provide a variety of vase shapes and materials (ceramic, glass, rustic metal) to let everyone create something unique. You can shop at local thrift stores for affordable vases.

What To Serve

A dried flower arranging party calls for a charming spread of delicious yet effortless bites and drinks. The goal is to serve foods that guests can casually enjoy while creating their arrangements. Think cheese boards, fresh fruit, light desserts, and refreshing cocktials or mocktails – a mix of sweet and savory that feels special but is easy to prepare.

Seasonal Fruit Platter: Arrange a colorful mix of fresh seasonal fruits like berries, figs, grapes, and citrus slices for a fresh and vibrant snack.

Charcuterie Board: A beautiful cheese platter filled with a mix of cheeses, cured meats, nuts, honey, and crackers is always a crowd-pleaser. Arrange it with edible flowers or dried fruit for an extra charming touch!

Whipped Feta Dip: This herby and tangy dip is so easy to make and goes beautifully with sliced baguettes or crackers.
