This green Irish whiskey sangria is refreshing and perfect for Saint Patrick’s Day! It’s made with fresh green fruit, Irish whiskey, and white wine. Sweeten it to your liking and serve it with traditional Irish food!
Top oโ the morninโ! In celebration of Saint Patrickโs Day, this year we’re making an Irish whiskey-inspired sangria and I’m going to cook an Irish-inspired meal to celebrate!
Admittedly, Saint Patrickโs is not my favorite holiday, but I do think it’s a good excuse to make a themed dinner and, of course, a yummy cocktail! It’s also fun for kids and a great little history lesson in the Irish culture and to teach them who Saint Patrick was.
But I love a good white wine sangria, so it was fun to create something that’s perfect to sip and of course, full of green fruit!
How to Make Green Irish Whiskey Sangria
For this sangria, we use white wine, Irish whiskey and all green fruit like apples, kiwi, pears, and grapes! It’s so refreshing and the Irish whiskey adds that bold Irish flavor to it!
Ingredients
- Green apple
- Green pears
- kiwis,
- Green grapes
- Lime juice
- Sugar
- White wine
- Irish whiskey
- Club soda
We added a little lime juice as well, which cuts the sweetness. I don’t love really sweet sangrias, but you can sweeten it to taste!
WHAT IS A GOOD WHITE WINE FOR SANGRIA?
You donโt need a very expensive bottle of wine when making sangria! Save your good bottles for sipping. Try an affordable dry white like Rioja Blanco, or a crisp Sauvignon Blanc or even a Pinot Grigio.
Directions for making Green Irish Whiskey Sangria
- Slice and chop all of the fruit place in a pitcher with fresh lime juice
- Add the sugar to the whiskey and stir. Then pour over the fruit.
- Add in the wine and stir. Let it sit for 1 hour.
- Add in the club soda and stir before mixing.

A LITTLE SANGRIA HISTORY
The term sangria dates back to the 18th century. Early versions of this cocktail were popular in Spain, Greece, and England. It was originally served hot and cold. Sangria as an iced drink was introduced to the U.S. in the late 1940s through Hispanic Americans and Spanish restaurants.

I love this recipe! Definitely trying this for St. Patrick’s Day this year! It’s so hard to find a good “green” cocktail recipe without fake coloring and artificial flavors. Thanks for sharing!
