I never thought I’d say this, but I might love these Lucky Charms Rice Krispie Treats even more than classic Rice Krispie treats! They’re gooey, have an extra crunch, and the colorful marshmallows add so much charm!

The perfect St. Patrick’s Day treat, especially if you love festive desserts like my Lucky Charms Cupcakes.

This started as a fun St. Patrick’s Day idea, but the second I browned the butter and folded in the Lucky Charms, I knew these were going to be dangerous. They’re rich, nostalgic, and loaded with those marshmallow bites everyone secretly eats first… you know you do! If you’re planning a St. Patrick’s Day spread, these pair perfectly with treats like my Baileys Dipped S’mores.

When I tell you my kids (and husband!) went crazy over these, I mean it. They kept sneaking pieces off the counter while they were setting, and by the end of the day, the pan was basically gone. But I did take these pictures, thank goodness!

Why You’ll Love These Treats

  • Even better than classic Rice Krispie treats (and I don’t say that lightly)
  • Made with just 3 simple ingredients
  • Browned butter adds a rich, almost toffee-like flavor
  • Extra crunchy, super gooey, and never dry
  • No baking required and so easy to make
  • Perfect for St. Patrick’s Day parties, school events, or easy entertaining

If you already love my strawberry Rice Krispie treats, this is a fun, festive twist you’ll want to try next.

Ingredients

Lucky Charms Cereal, Butter and marshmallows.

Lucky Charms cereal: Measure it out with a 1-cup measuring cup so the ratio stays just right. You want plenty of cereal without losing that gooey marshmallow texture.

Unsalted butter: Browning the butter is what makes these special. It adds depth and balances the sweetness perfectly, just like I do in my Strawberry Rice Krispie Treats.

Marshmallows: These melt into the browned butter to create the soft, gooey base that makes these irresistible. Kind of like making an easy marshmallow fluff, yum!

How to Make Lucky Charms Rice Krispie Treats

  1. Measure out 7 cups of Lucky Charms cereal using a 1-cup measuring cup and set aside.
  2. In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Continue cooking until the butter turns golden brown and smells nutty.
  3. Lower the heat, add the marshmallows and salt, and stir until completely melted and smooth.
  4. Turn off the heat and add the Lucky Charms cereal. Stir until everything is evenly coated.
  5. Press the mixture into an 8×8 ceramic pan. I don’t butter the pan or use parchment underneath because there’s plenty of butter in the recipe and they release cleanly.
  6. Place parchment paper on top and gently press the treats down.
  7. Let them sit for about 1 hour before cutting.

Eden’s Recipe Tips

These are best the day they’re made, but still delicious the next day

Browning the butter is worth the extra minute and adds so much flavor

Use a large pot so mixing is quick and easy

I always use parchment paper to press the gooey marshmallow mixture into the pan so it doesn’t stick to my hands and presses evenly.

A ceramic pan works great and doesn’t need greasing

You can dip these in white chocolate instead of regular chocolate if you want something extra fun and festive

Perfect for St. Patrick’s Day (and Beyond)

These Lucky Charms Rice Krispie Treats are my go-to when I need a festive, no-bake dessert that everyone will love. They’re easy to transport, fun for kids, nostalgic for adults, and perfect for St. Patrick’s Day parties or school celebrations.

FAQs

Are these better than regular Rice Krispie treats?

In my opinion, yes. The browned butter and Lucky Charms take them to another level. They have more of a crunch and the extra marshmallows add so much flavor and color!

Do I need to grease the pan?

The high butter content keeps them from sticking, especially in a ceramic pan. You can if you want though!

How many Lucky Charms Rice Krispie Treats does this recipe make?

This recipe makes 9 large, thick treats when cut into a 3×3 grid in an 8×8 pan. You can also cut them smaller if you’re serving a crowd.

Can I use a different cereal?

Yes, but Lucky Charms are what make these perfect for St. Patrick’s Day and give them that fun, colorful look.

Honestly, this is one of those recipes I’ll keep making year after year because it’s just that good. If you love creative Rice Krispie variations, my 4th of July Rice Krispie Treats or Mummy Rice Krispie Treats too!
