How to Create a Christmas Fruit Platter

You can make several shapes when preparing a fruit platter for Christmas. I created a wreath shape, but you can also do a tree or a star. So keep that in mind when creating your platter.

Supplies

Red grapes, pomegranate, raspberries, dragonfruit, and strawberries on a table.

Fresh Fruit for a Festive Platter

Berries: Red berries such as strawberries, raspberries, and cranberries

Tropical Fruit: Dragonfruit, green kiwi, or pineapples add a tropical flair to the platter, which is excellent in the winter.

Apple and Pears: Slice these and add a little lemon juice so they won’t brown.

Juicy Grapes: Green grapes or red grapes are great to add height and texture.

Citrus: Blood orange gives the platter some citrus and a beautiful color.

6 Steps to Creating a Wreath Fruit Platter

  1. Begin by washing and drying all of your fruit thoroughly.
  2. Cut the red apples and pears into thin slices, removing seeds or stems. Add lemon juice over them to prevent them from browing.
  3. Carefully slice the dragon fruit into slices or star shapes using a cookie cutter.
  4. Arrange the red grapes around the edge of a circular platter to create a base for your wreath.
  5. Layer the red apples, pears, dragon fruit stars, and sugared cranberries in a circular shape on top of the grapes to create your wreath.
  6. Garnish with sprigs of mint or rosemary for a festive touch.

The Best Fruit Dips

Fruit is delicious but even better when dipped in something sweet! Here are my three favorite dips for fruit:

1. Caramel Sauce

2. Homemade Fruit Dip

3. Chocolate Sauce

You can pair it with a light dip from Greek yogurt or honey for a sweet and tangy twist.

Picking Out The Best Fruit

When choosing fruit for your platter, please look for fresh, ripe options.

Choose fruits that are in season and have vibrant colors.

Avoid bruised or overripe fruit, which may not hold up well on a platter. If buying pre-cut fruit, ensure it is firm and not soggy.

Tips for Creating a Visually Stunning Platter

  • Choose fruits with vibrant colors that represent the holiday season.
  • Use different shapes and sizes to add visual interest.
  • Add some greenery on top with sprigs of mint or rosemary.
  • Arrange the fruit in an overlapping.
