Ingredient Notes & Shopping List
Pretzels Rods โ Long, round pretzels that are perfect for dipping in chocolate. They are often sold in packages of 12 or 24, and they are a popular snack for parties and holidays. When making this treat, use salty pretzel rods for more flavor.
Chocolate Chips or Candy Melts โ You can use any kind of chocolate to make these. We prefer white chocolate chips and milk chocolate chips. You will need about 12 oz. of chocolate or candy melts to make this recipe. We like to use white chocolate chips and milk chocolate chips, but you can use any kind of chocolate you like.
Halloween Sprinkles – I used Halloween sprinkles from Amazon, but you can use any kind of sprinkles you like.
Three Ways to Melt Chocolate
Microwave Method
The easiest way to melt chocolate is in the microwave. Simply place the chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl and heat in the microwave at 15-second intervals, stirring in between until the chocolate is melted and smooth.
Stovetop Method
If you donโt have a microwave, or if you prefer not to use one, you can melt chocolate on the stovetop. Place a heat-proof bowl over a pot of simmering water. Add the chocolate to the bowl and stir constantly until the chocolate is melted and smooth.
Double Boiler Method
You can also use a double boiler to melt chocolate. This is a great method if you are melting a large amount of chocolate, or if you want to be sure the chocolate doesnโt burn.
To use a double boiler, fill a pot with a few inches of water and place a heat-proof bowl on top. The bowl should fit snugly on the pot. Add the chocolate to the bowl and stir constantly until the chocolate is melted and smooth.
Three Different Halloween Pretzel Rods
Mummy Pretzel Rods
To make mummy pretzel rods, dip the pretzels in white chocolate. Then, add some melted chocolate into a piping bag or small plastic bag.
Cut a small hole in the corner of the bag and pipe lines across the pretzels to create the mummy wrap look. Add some candy eyes and let the chocolate set.
Monster Pretzel Rods
To make monster pretzel rods, dip the pretzels in green chocolate. Then, add two candy eyeballs.
Witch Hat Pretzel Rods
To make witch hat pretzel rods, dip the pretzels in chocolate. Then, add a cone-shaped candy to the top of the pretzel.
How to Store
The best way to store Halloween pretzel rods is in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks.
