This blueberry Moscow Mule is a fruity twist on the classic mule. It’s a fun seasonal mule filled with blueberry flavor and spicy ginger. It’s the perfect summer cocktail.
I love this fruity mule because it’s a great drink to sip on while relaxing by the lake during the summer when blueberries are abundant. It has a gorgeous color, and when served in a copper mug, it looks beautiful!
When the blueberry season arrives, you better believe I’m on a mission to pick as many as possible! I love eating them fresh for breakfast every morning and using them in my blueberry recipes, such as blueberry muffins, baked blueberry donuts, and roasted blueberry popsicles.
I made an effortless blueberry ginger syrup to sweeten this mule. The syrup adds a blueberry flavor and color to the cocktail. I also love the added antioxidants from the fresh berries!
This cocktail is perfect for any occasion. Whether you are entertaining friends or want a special drink to enjoy after a long day, the Moscow mule is always an excellent choice for Birthday Parties, the Fourth of July, or just an easy, happy hour cocktail.

Ingredient Notes
Ginger Beer – Use good quality ginger beer made with natural ginger.
Fresh Lime Juice – Only use freshly squeezed lime juice.
Vodka – Use a high-quality vodka.
Blueberry Ginger Syrup – This is made with fresh blueberries and ginger. For more, check out my guide to making simple syrup.
Ginger Blueberry Syrup
The syrup gives the Moscow Mule its blueberry flavor. To make it extra gingery, we use ginger juice—pressed ginger without added sugar. It adds the best ginger flavor!
You’ll need ginger juice, sugar, and fresh blueberries to make the syrup. The recipe is in the recipe card below.
Tips for The Best Drink
You can use ginger ale instead if you don’t have ginger beer.
I always suggest serving this drink in a copper mug for the best flavor, but you can also use a mason jar for fun.
You can experiment with flavored or infused vodka to give your mule an extra kick.
Muddle fresh blueberries or other seasonal fruit in the Moscow mule mug for different blueberry flavors.
Use blueberry vodka for extra blueberry flavor.
Garnish your mule with fresh blueberries, edible flowers, a lime wedge, or a sprig of mint for the perfect presentation.
If you don’t have lime, use fresh lemon juice to make a lemon blueberry Moscow mule!
Common Questions
Why is it served in a copper mug?
The most scientific benefit of using copper Moscow mule mugs is temperature. For centuries, the best bartenders have known that chilled drinks in copper cups offer an extra-cool sensation due to the metal quickly taking on the icy temperature of the cocktail.
Can I Substitute Ginger Ale For Ginger Beer?
I wouldn’t use ginger ale instead of ginger beer. Yes, both of these beverages are nonalcoholic ginger-flavored drinks. However, ginger beer is made with real ginger and has a much stronger flavor and a little spice. Ginger ale is much milder and doesn’t have the same flavor.
What if I can’t find ginger juice?
If you can’t find ginger juice, use 3 tbsp fresh ginger peeled when making the syrup. Let it simmer a little longer to get all of that ginger flavor.

Ooo. I’m gonna have to admit that I am a moscow mule fan… but I didn’t know how easy this is to make at home. This is a dangerous info! LOL. I’m going to have to try this blueberry syrup too. Love the change to the recipe.

Wowwww so creative! I LOVE moscow mules, and LOVE blueberries! You are my new favorite person ever 🙂
Oh this looks delightful. I typically like to stick to the original when it comes to mules though. Check out Grey Goose’s video tutorial if you want to stick to the standard http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2zM4uTrwUuc
Great recipe, and I have to ask, where did you get those cups!?
Had my first Moscow Mule last week here in Maine! Love the blueberry idea, now I need to order some copper mugs 😉 when we get back!
I really love your recipes. But what is ginger beer?
I’ve been craving a Moscow Mule for the longest time! I always have them at one of my favorite restaurants with their fresh oysters, but I’ll need to make your blueberry version from now on, and with so much fresh fruit this season, the possibilities are endless.
