This Witches Brew cocktail is one of my favorite easy Halloween drinks! It’s made with apple cider, orange juice, fresh ginger, pomegranate juice, and optional apple vodka for a festive fall cocktail that’s fruity, lightly spiced, and SO easy to make.

It takes about 3 minutes, requires no cocktail shaker, and gets its spooky orange-red color naturally from the juices. I love serving it for Halloween parties, pumpkin-carving nights, or a cozy Halloween movie night.

Witches Brew Ingredients

Ingredients for an easy Witches Brew cocktail.

You only need a handful of ingredients to make this easy Halloween cocktail.

Apple Cider: Gives the cocktail its crisp apple flavor and makes it perfect for fall. Use real apple cider rather than apple juice for the best flavor.

Orange Juice: Adds fresh citrus and sweetness. I prefer freshly squeezed orange juice.

Fresh Ginger: Freshly grated ginger gives this drink a little warmth and spice. A Microplane works perfectly for finely grating it.

Pomegranate Juice: Pour this in last to create that deep red swirl through the drink. Cranberry juice can also work, but pomegranate is my favorite.

Apple Vodka: Optional, but perfect for the adult version. It enhances the apple flavor without overpowering the cider.

How to Make a Witches Brew Cocktail

Fill the glass: Fill an old-fashioned glass with ice.

Add the cider: Pour in 2 ounces apple cider, 1 ounce orange juice, and 1 ounce apple vodka.

Add the ginger: Finely grate ½ teaspoon fresh ginger over the drink and stir.

Make it spooky: Slowly pour 1 ounce pomegranate juice over the top. I love how it swirls through the cocktail!

Garnish: Finish with a dried orange slice, candied ginger, or a fun Halloween candy.

Non-Alcoholic Witches Brew

It’s incredibly easy to turn this into a non-alcoholic Witches Brew. Simply leave out the apple vodka and make it with apple cider, orange juice, fresh ginger, and pomegranate juice.

For kids, you can also reduce or leave out the fresh ginger if they don’t like the spicy flavor.

If you’re serving a larger group of kids and adults, my Non-Alcoholic Halloween Punch or 3-Ingredient Halloween Punch for Kids are both easy options. I also have an entire collection of non-alcoholic Halloween drinks.

Eden’s Recipe Tips

I’ve made a LOT of Halloween drinks over the years, and these little details make this one extra good:

Serving a crowd? Multiply the recipe and serve it in a pitcher or Halloween punch bowl. For a larger party punch made specifically for a crowd, try my Spiked Jolly Rancher Punch.

Use fresh apple cider: It gives the cocktail much more flavor than regular apple juice.

Fresh ginger makes the drink: You only need a little, but it adds the perfect spicy kick.

Pour the pomegranate juice last: This creates the coolest layered, potion-like look before you stir it.

Make it extra spooky: Dried orange slices, candied ginger, black cat candy, or skull ice cubes are all fun options.

Halloween Cocktail Garnishes

The garnishes make this Witches Brew extra fun for Halloween! I used a dried orange slice, candied ginger, and a tiny black cat candy.

You can keep it simple with just one or two garnishes. I especially love the dried orange with the deep red pomegranate swirl.

Witches Brew FAQs

What is a Witches Brew cocktail made of?

This Witches Brew cocktail is made with apple cider, orange juice, fresh ginger, pomegranate juice, and optional apple vodka. It’s fruity, lightly spiced, and full of fall flavor.

Can I make Witches Brew without alcohol?

Yes! Simply leave out the apple vodka. The apple cider, orange juice, fresh ginger, and pomegranate juice make a delicious non-alcoholic Halloween drink on their own.

What alcohol is best for Witches Brew?

I use apple vodka because it enhances the apple cider and fall flavors. You can also use regular vodka if that’s what you have.

Can I make Witches Brew ahead of time?

Yes. Combine the apple cider, orange juice, vodka, and ginger and keep it chilled. Pour over ice and add the pomegranate juice just before serving for that spooky swirling effect.

Can I make Witches Brew for a crowd?

Yes! Multiply the ingredients by the number of drinks you need and mix everything except the pomegranate juice in a pitcher. Pour over ice and finish each drink with pomegranate juice.
